[edit]... that the Sloan–Parker House (pictured) was built for an indentured servant who eloped and ran away with his employer's daughter?

- new enough, more than long enough, hook cited, image property licensed, DYK check clean. Would suggest trimming the lede though, many of the items should be in the body. Maury Markowitz (talk) 18:21, 30 November 2017 (UTC)
- @West Virginian: I was preparing to promote this, but on looking at the article, I think the hook is misleading. The hook suggests his employer built the house for him and this is not the case. Please could you suggest one or more alternative hooks. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 06:27, 31 December 2017 (UTC)
- Cwmhiraeth, Happy New Year's Eve and thank you for your attention to this article and its associated hook. Would the following alternative hook work better and be less misleading? -- West Virginian (talk) 14:06, 31 December 2017 (UTC)
- ALT1: ... that after Richard Sloan eloped and ran away with his employer's daughter Charlotte, the couple settled in the Mill Creek valley and built the Sloan–Parker House (pictured) around 1790?
- That's fine. Replacing Maury Markowitz' tick and striking original hook. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 14:14, 31 December 2017 (UTC)
- Cwmhiraeth, thank you again for taking the time to improve this hook. -- West Virginian (talk) 15:03, 31 December 2017 (UTC)
