Skyway Monte Bianco

[edit]
Skyway Monte Bianco
Skyway Monte Bianco
  • ALT1:... that a golden ice axe was presented to Italian Prime Minister, Matteo Renzi, in 2015 when he officially opened the Skyway Monte Bianco, the wold's most expensive cable car system in the Alps?
  • Reviewed: Template:Did you know nominations/Makarkinia
  • Comment: ALT1 includes a reference to 'the word's most expensive cable car', which is a better, stronger hook. (Note that the ice axe reference is to a newspaper article in Italian, but statement is emboldened there, and is readily translated in a Google Chrome browser.)

  • This article is new enough and long enough. The image is appropriately licensed, the article is neutral and I detected no copyright issues in the spot checks I made, and nor did Earwig. A couple of problems however, one of the paragraphs has no references in it, and the reference 8, about the golden ice axe, fails for me. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 06:31, 2 March 2016 (UTC)
I've addressed the lack of references in the first paragraph. Regarding the golden ice axe, the url is valid, so it does works in that respect. It links to an Italian online newspaper, which can be easily be translated in a browser. However, the key text is already emboldened in the article. viz: "Una piccozza in dono Dopo la breve cerimonia, il premier è salito in vetta accompagnato solo dalle autorità. Il presidente della Regione, Augusto Rollandin, gli ha consegnato in dono una piccozza d’oro. Simbolo dell’alpinismo nato proprio sul Tetto d’Europa. . ."
Any browser translate tool turns this into: "An ice ax as a gift. After the brief ceremony, the Prime Minister has risen to the summit accompanied only by the authorities. The regional president, Augusto Rollandin, presented him with the gift of a golden ice ax - Alpinism symbol born on the roof of Europe . . . "
To be extra clear on the hook, I have added another reference to a newstory with a photograph of the Prime Minister holding the aforementioned gold ice axe for anyone who doesn't have a translate button on the browser. Hope this addresses the issues - thanks for your input on this Parkywiki (talk) 09:25, 2 March 2016 (UTC)
  • This article checks out on all the relevant fronts, especially after the last round of fixes. I'm approving the original hook, as ALT1 seems to be somewhat confusing as to geographical specifics ("world's most expensive system in the Alps").—♦♦ AMBER(ЯʘCK) 11:51, 4 March 2016 (UTC)
