Sebastiano DiGaetano
[edit]... that Sebastiano DiGaetano, an early mafia boss of the Bonnano crime family, was arrested in 1910 under suspicion of kidnapping two children for ransom?Source: Warner, Richard; Santino, Angelo; Van't Reit, Lennert (May 2014). Informer: The History of American Crime and Law Enforcement: 52–54.ALT1:... that Sebastiano DiGaetano, an early mafia boss, was arrested in 1910 under suspicion of kidnapping two children for ransom?Source: "One Kidnapper Hides, Ten Others are Held in $10,000 Bail Each; Barber Accused by the Police as Leader of Child Stealers". The Evening World. 9 December 1910.ALT2:... that Sebastiano DiGaetano, an early mafia boss, was arrested in 1910 under suspicion of kidnapping eight-year-old Giuseppe Longo and seven-year-old Michael Rizzo for ransom?
- Reviewed: This is my very first DYK nomination ever, so if I understand the instructions correctly, I do not have to review a DYK nomination yet. If I misunderstood this please let me know.
- Comment: I created alternate hooks because you cannot include both "Bonnano crime family" and the names of the two children and stay under the 200 character limit. The hook with the two children's names better matches the wording of the article itself.

- Yes, you're right about the QPQ review, but can you please add the source(s) supporting each of the hooks, as encouraged in template:NewDYKnomination/guide?--Jetstreamer Talk 16:51, 18 July 2017 (UTC)
- I believe the hook would be more interesting if it mentioned that he disappeared all of a sudden. What about these two ones:
ALT3: ...that Sebastiano DiGaetano, an early mafia boss of the Bonnano crime family, disappeared in 1912 after stepping down?Source: *Hunt, Thomas (2016). Wrongly Executed? - The Long-forgotten Context of Charles Sberna's 1939 Electrocution. Whiting, Vermont: Seven Seven Eight. ISBN 9781365528729.ALT4: ...that Sebastiano DiGaetano, an early Bonnano crime family's mafia boss, disappeared in 1912 shortly after stepping down?--Jetstreamer Talk 18:57, 18 July 2017 (UTC)
- I thought the kidnapping angle would be more interesting, note the Informer article is the source for the disappeared part of the hook. Unfortunately it's paywalled. But there's a book source for the Bonanno crime family head part that I've added for ALT3. Libertybison (talk) 19:15, 18 July 2017 (UTC)
- ALT3 and ALT4 catches the reader's attention, as it gives the impression this mafia boss was ammazzato. No one would think he possibly travelled back to Italy. But you prefer we can continue working on the three hooks you provided.--Jetstreamer Talk 19:21, 18 July 2017 (UTC)
- ALT5: ...that Sebastiano DiGaetano, an early mafia boss of the Bonnano crime family, disappeared after stepping down in 1912?
- How about this slight change in ALT3, to reflect that it's DiGaetano's stepping down in that's definitely dated in the Informer article, his disappearance is "shortly after"? Libertybison (talk) 19:26, 18 July 2017 (UTC)
- Sounds good. I've striked out the rest of the ALTs. I've also checked the length of the prose and is well over the 1500 minimum. As a sidenote, you might want to add something about DiGateano's dissapearance in the lead. Good to go.--Jetstreamer Talk 19:35, 18 July 2017 (UTC)
