Scott Drinkwell
[edit]... that some viewers of the British soap opera Hollyoaks criticised the gay character Scott Drinkwell for being "camp" and "trouble-making"?

- - Article is new, is it long enough, written from a neutral perspective, with lots of inline citations and I cannot find any evidence of copyright violations (Earwig scores it highly but they are all indicated as quotes within the article). The hook is sourced within the article. QPQ done. A brilliant, well-written article.. good job, Raintheone! ツStacey (talk) 14:54, 9 August 2016 (UTC)
- @Raintheone and Staceydolxx: I think this hook will not do as the viewers criticised the Hollyoaks producers for introducing someone with these characteristics rather than the character himself. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 08:39, 10 August 2016 (UTC)
- I disagree, I think this hook is fine. The source explicitly says "Brian Kirkwood has defended the character from the backlash". If a book had a critical review we don't say it wasn't about the content of the book the problem it was the author? People had a problem with the character. ツStacey (talk) 09:30, 10 August 2016 (UTC)
- The criticism was directed at the Scott Drinkwell character, which the producer defended. The section also includes sources where the the actor openly discusses the negative reaction to the character for being "camp" and mentions postive reaction to other gay characters in the show who have different characterisation. I still think the hook is okay as it is.Rain the 1 15:10, 10 August 2016 (UTC)
- Nothing has happened since? I am confused.Rain the 1 22:54, 15 August 2016 (UTC)
- The article states "Many criticised Hollyoaks for including such a character" and the source states ".. where his camp persona and manipulative trouble-making quickly drew criticism from some viewers." I don't see that as equating to "criticised the gay character". Maybe I am out of touch and the hook is OK. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 05:49, 16 August 2016 (UTC)

- @Cwmhiraeth: Okay. Perhaps a different hook is agreeable -
- ALT1 ... that Ross Adams worked as a script editor on the soap opera Emmerdale before he was cast as Scott Drinkwell in Hollyoaks?Rain the 1 08:54, 16 August 2016 (UTC)
- Agreeing with Stacey that this nomination meets DYK criteria, and approving ALT1 which is both interesting and well cited. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 08:43, 20 August 2016 (UTC)
