Sabre Dance
[edit]- ... that the "Sabre Dance" from Aram Khachaturian's (pictured) ballet Gayane was used in numerous films and TV series around the world?

- I will review this article.NearTheZoo (talk) 19:47, 27 September 2012 (UTC)
- I would ask that another (more experienced) reviewer double-check that I am right, but I do not think this article meets the date requirements for a DYK nomination. Here are some facts:
- The article was begun
October 5, 2012June 6, 2003 -- so it is not 5 days since its creation - The article's expansion by Yerevanci began on September 16 (on that date it had 2580 bytes), reaching the expansion-by-5x amount on September 23, 2012 (13,506 bytes on that date). However, my understanding is that the DYK nomination must be made based on the date the expansion began, not the date it reaches the 5x expansion. In that case, the expansion began September 16 but it was not nominated until September 23 -- so it's too late. NearTheZoo (talk) 20:04, 27 September 2012 (UTC)
- Quick PS - If exceptions are made to the 5-day rule, I'd be happy to go back to the article to have another look! (Or,of course, if I'm misunderstanding the rules regarding beginning of expansion vs completion.)NearTheZoo (talk) 20:27, 27 September 2012 (UTC)
- Dear NearTheZoo: The 5-day rule could be extended up to 8 days at the reviewer's discretion. However, the problem here is that the nominator is claiming a 5x expansion which the article does not show. Perhaps the nominator was mistakenly looking at the increase in byte count in the history? In order to calculate 5x expansion, you should use a cut & paste tool and not include any lists. Therefore, on 26 August 2012, before the expansion started, the character count was 1239, and as of today (27 September) the character count, excluding lists, stands at 2646 characters, just over a 2x expansion. - What if I convert lists to text? Would it be alright? --Երևանցի ասելիք կա՞ 02:46, 28 September 2012 (UTC)
- Sorry -- it can be improved in many ways and become a better and better article (and by the way, one problem with it is that there are many statements that do not have references to back them up) -- but at this point it is my understanding that it is beyond the 5-day (or even the expanded 8-day) window for a DYK nomination. Very interesting article, though. I enjoyed reading it! (I guess if someone else took the article as it stands right now and expanded it 5x the size of what it is right now, it could be nominated based on that expansion at another time...but this nomination for the article fails the time limitation test, and should be closed.)NearTheZoo (talk) 03:14, 28 September 2012 (UTC)
