Robert A. Emmitt

  • ... that shortly after getting married in 1875, Robert A. Emmitt crossed the Cascade Mountains driving a cattle herd while his wife led a pack horse that carried their possessions? Source: On p. 1 of the 3 Nov 1937 edition of the Evening Herald newspaper, Emmitt’s obituary says: "Emmitt, who came across the mountains into the Klamath country in 1875—his young wife trailing a pack horse while he drove cattle ahead of them." Emmitt’s obituary continues on p. 7] saying: "In 1875 he married Flora Lesley. Shortly after, they set out for the Klamath country … Emmitt drove the family livestock … His bride rode a horse and led a pack horse. They had all their earthly possessions with them …"
