Radu Paisie
[edit]- ... that Prince of Wallachia Radu Paisie (pictured) was deposed by his Ottoman overlords in 1545, with measures taken to prevent his "abscond[ing] with the treasury"? Gheonea, p. 51: Petru Rareș și guvernatorii otomani ai ținuturilor de jur [...] erau preveniți [de către sultan] ca în cazul în care [Paisie] fugea cu vistieria, să nu-l lase să scape ("Petru Rareș and the Ottoman governors of the surrounding provinces [...] were made aware [by the sultan] that, should [Paisie] abscond with the treasury, they should not let him get away")
- ALT1:... that Prince of Wallachia Radu Paisie (pictured) spoke of uniting the Christians around "a single concept and a single faith", but then participated in the Ottoman invasion of Moldavia? ("In August 1538, Radu Paisie joined Süleyman the Lawgiver in his expedition against the Prince of Moldavia, Petru Rareș, with 3,000 soldiers. [...] In August 1538, just before participating in the campaign against Moldavia, he wrote to the people of Sibiu: 'And so the infidel Turks have risen up against us Christians..., so it must be that all of us Christians also unite, with a single concept and a single faith'.")

- This article is a fivefold (more likely hundredfold) exansion and is new enough and long enough. Both hooks are interesting and cited inline, the image is in the public domain and the article is neutral. I did not have access to the sources so could not check for policy issues but Earwig did not bring up any concerns. Good to go. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 12:53, 3 October 2017 (UTC)
