- Comment: Will try to rewrite that lead when I have more time and braincells available.
- ... ALT1: that Preston Claiborne contributes to a website where minor league baseball players give tips to other players on surviving the rigors of minor league baseball?

Nom made May 3. Checking for verification. Editor DYK QPQ still pending. — btphelps (talk) (contribs) 00:56, 25 May 2013 (UTC)
- Article's references check out, no copyvio, length is good, image is acceptable, hook is 161 characters. The only negative is that the hook is pretty luke-warm. Is there nothing more notable about this player? How about adding the fact that he's just joined the majors after 3 years in the minors? — btphelps (talk) (contribs) 01:11, 25 May 2013 (UTC)
- Personally I think this website is much more interesting. Being in the minors for three years before making the majors is pretty standard. There may be a better way to write the hook that I'm not thinking of. – Muboshgu (talk) 15:33, 28 May 2013 (UTC)
- This is my first ever participation in the DYK process. As a reader of the Wikipedia main page, I also think the website hook is more interesting. That prompts curiosity about the player and draws me into reading the article. -- WeijiBaikeBianji (talk, how I edit) 17:06, 28 May 2013 (UTC)
- That or something about his dad telling him to play like a Yankee, and his coincidentally becoming a Yankee. – Muboshgu (talk) 15:40, 28 May 2013 (UTC)
- The WSJ ref calls him "one of the site's most prolific contributors." The article and hook should spruce up that he does more than just merely "contribute".—Bagumba (talk) 09:03, 31 May 2013 (UTC)

- ALT3: ... that The Wall Street Journal called Preston Claiborne one of the "most prolific contributors" to a website that gives tips on surviving the rigors of minor league baseball?
- ALT4: ... that Preston Claiborne is one of the major contributors to a website that gives tips on surviving the rigors of minor league baseball?
- Suggested fact is backed by an inline citation that has been verified. I strongly suggest adding that Claiborne is a professional player or else it seems like an article about a random sports writer:
- ALT5: ... that Major League Baseball pitcher Preston Claiborne is a major contributor to a website that gives tips on surviving the rigors of minor league baseball?
