Prehistoric Bajada "hanging" canals of southeastern Arizona

[edit]

Looking down canal at the narrow, nearly completely filled channel of the Robinson Canal as it routes along the steep side of a mesa on its way to fields on Robinson Flat. Note the illusion of the canal coursing upslope.

  • Age and length are OK, but there are hardly any citations and the proposition that the canals are 'literally "hung"' on the mesas is not supported by any references as far as I can see; in fact, "hanging canals" seems only to be a nickname for them taken from an interview with one enthusiast. Coupled with the fact that the main author hasn't edited since February tends to lead me towards a "No" for this article. (Bam! First edit for four days and I'm straight in with bad news). • I'm marking this DYK as unsuccessful as per Belle. Unless the nominator and/or creator object, this will probably be closed in a few days. G S Palmer (talkcontribs) 01:25, 25 October 2014 (UTC)
