Pikoo (film)
[edit]- ... that when a French Television channel approached Satyajit Ray for Pikoo (1980), he was briefed by saying "you can place your camera at your window and shoot the house next-door—we will accept that"?

- Good work! I have seen the film. Your article is longer than the film. Jokes apart. It is 5x expanded. Alright! 1) can you suggest an ALT hook (current one has 191 characters, it is okay)? 2) it might be difficult, but can you add sources in "Plot" section? --Tito Dutta (talk) 02:42, 14 January 2013 (UTC)
- Per DYK rule book, the hook can have maximum 200 characters so 191 is in the limit. According to MOS:FILM#Plot, the plot synopsis does not need inline citations because the presumption is citation to the work itself (the film). And yeah, article is longer than the film. Same thing happened with another Ray film article Two (1964 film). - Vivvt • (Talk) 02:52, 14 January 2013 (UTC)
- Reading again the comment: {current one has 191 characters, it is okay). Yes, collecting citation for the plot of this film might be difficult. --Tito Dutta (talk) 04:23, 14 January 2013 (UTC)
- My bad for not reading your comment properly. Added 'channel ' word for more clarification which makes it 199 characters. I dont have any alt hook. Would you like to suggest one? - Vivvt • (Talk) 04:32, 14 January 2013 (UTC)
- (edit conflict)My worse for adding "question mark" at a confusing position! Actually I thought of this ALT
ALT1: Pikoo, (1980) a Bengali short film directed by Satyajit Ray, showcases a day in the life of a six year old kid, in the backdrop of mother's extramarital affair?- 158 characters.. but then felt the hook is a bit sensitive (extramarital affair etc). also note, I replaced "one of the parents" to "mother".
- Actually I did not want to have a hook which depicts the storyline. I initially did not have any hook but then read Ray's biography recently and about Pikoo in it and how much confidence people have/had on him. So thought of promoting this confidence as a hook for Pikoo. - Vivvt • (Talk) 05:30, 14 January 2013 (UTC)
- This film is somehow related to Sandip Ray first film Phatik Chand. I read somewhere in Kolkata Sandip Ray's first Bengali film Phatik Chand was not going well at box office. Satyajit Ray requested permission from the French television channel (most probably France 3) to release it in Kolkata and Pikoo was re-released with Phatik Chand to get some audience for Sandip Ray's first film. I don't have citation in hand, but, if you have found it somewhere this might be interesting too!
- There are more events. Pikoo is one of those few films where his work was negatively criticized by some critic. --Tito Dutta (talk) 05:08, 14 January 2013 (UTC)
- Posted a link on your talk page about these two films. - Vivvt • (Talk) 05:30, 14 January 2013 (UTC)
- I am not fully satisfied with the hook. Intext: ... that when a French Television channel[which?] approached Satyajit Ray for Pikoo (1980), he was briefed by saying "you can place your camera at your window and shoot the house next-door—we will accept that."? Anyway, my satisfaction is not the point of this DYK. I could not verify see the source you have added! Any online source? --Tito Dutta (talk) 05:55, 14 January 2013 (UTC)
- I can add a link for FR3 to French Television channel. Here is the online source for the hook. - Vivvt • (Talk) 14:20, 14 January 2013 (UTC)
- Yes, please add the online source too! --Tito Dutta (talk) 20:50, 14 January 2013 (UTC)

- Article. Also, where's the QPQ review? — Crisco 1492 (talk) 16:00, 15 January 2013 (UTC)
- Missed the QPQ link earlier. Are you looking for any particular section to be copy-edited or the whole article? - Vivvt • (Talk) 16:13, 15 January 2013 (UTC)
- Whole article. Some random examples:
- "In an interview given to a New York based magazine Cineaste, Ray considered Pikoo "a very complex film"" - One does not consider something in an interview, but expresses one's considerations. The verb doesn't quite match here.
- "Pikoo shares a friendly bond with his 80 years old bedridden grandfather" - 80-year-old is an adjective, 80 years old is a complement
- The restoration section seems to be missing several "the"s — Crisco 1492 (talk) 22:59, 15 January 2013 (UTC)
