Phablet
[edit]- ... that Huawei unveiled a 6.1-inch phablet smartphone at the 2013 Consumer Electronics Show?
5x expanded by ViperSnake151 (talk). Self nom at 02:20, 18 January 2013 (UTC)
- not 5X expansion - needs to be at least 10555k by today by my reckoning Richerman (talk) 11:31, 18 January 2013 (UTC)
- I thought fivefold meant five times longer, only counting words. According to my calculations, that should be 650 words. The article is currently 652. ViperSnake151 Talk 14:07, 18 January 2013 (UTC)
Sorry, yes you're right it is the prose only. However the results from the DYK check say:
- Prose size (text only): 4019 characters (652 words) "readable prose size"
- Article created by Marcus Qwertyus on April 23, 2012 as a redirect
- Article became a non-redirect on August 7, 2012 by Transe-gomnam
- Assuming article is at 5x now, expansion began 93 edits ago on October 15, 2012
- Article has not been created or expanded 5x within the past 10 days (95 days) DYKcheck does not account for previous versions with splits or copyright violations.

- Hmm, just read the bit about what the results mean and it says:
"DYKcheck finds the start of expansion date, assuming the article is now 5x expanded. It checks the last 500 edits with a binary search algorithm. Because of this, DYKcheck assumes that the article has more or less been always increasing in size. Minor fluctuations won't matter, but if the article crosses the 1x line multiple times, the tool can get confused. If it does get confused, it will err against the nominator; it will never show a more recent date for 1x than the actual. Therefore, reviewers should always check expansion manually if DYKcheck says the article hasn't been expanded 5x. This part of the scan takes the longest because up to nine requests from the server are made sequentially."
- Or to put it another way - it's a waste of time using it! My count of the words agrees with you that it's 5x so I'll carry on with the review. Richerman (talk) 20:21, 18 January 2013 (UTC)
- Ok it all checks out - it is new, long enough and within policy. However, I don't find the hook very interesting. How about something like:
ALT 1... that Huawei unveiled a 6.1-inch phablet smartphone at the 2013 Consumer Electronics Show that they say has the largest screen ever used on a smartphone? Richerman (talk) 20:56, 18 January 2013 (UTC)
- Yeah, that's fair. I was counting it in comparison to when I started the expansion. I actually did start an article on the Huawei Ascend Mate (the phone mentioned in the hook) just in case it went the other way, though.ViperSnake151 Talk 20:54, 18 January 2013 (UTC)
