Pedals (bear)

[edit]
  • Comment: I wanted to get this nomination in before the 7-day window was up. The article passes the criteria for DYK. The only issue is that it's currently under AFD, however that should be closed soon. Given the wide and long coverage of the subject, I am confident it will survive the AFD. But given that AFDs run 7 days and the window for nomination is 7 days, I thought it best to at least nominate it.

The topic has wide appeal and is about an "internet celebrity" of sorts. Seems like something interesting for DYK.

  • If the AfD were to close today, it probably would be closed not as "Keep" but as "No consensus" and I don't really like the idea of showcasing an article when a fair number of editors believe that the article shouldn't exist at all. Pichpich (talk) 22:01, 20 October 2016 (UTC)
The close was KEEP: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Pedals the Bear.Djflem (talk) 19:42, 22 October 2016 (UTC)
Not sure I agree with that evaluation of the consensus but in any case, some of the opposers felt rather strongly that the article should be deleted. Even the AfD closer, DGG (who isn't known as a rabid deletionist), expressed some doubts about the wisdom of keeping the article. Pichpich (talk) 22:29, 22 October 2016 (UTC)
It was closed though. Moving past that, do you think the DYK is interesting enough? IMO, the topic and hooks are decent enough for DYK. I think readers would be interested and that it would be something worth including. EvergreenFir (talk) 07:07, 23 October 2016 (UTC)

Should be evaluated based on DYK criteria. Which HOOK is best?Djflem (talk) 16:03, 23 October 2016 (UTC)

  • Not much activity on this. Wondering if it will just be left to go stale or if we could get some movement on it. EvergreenFir (talk) 14:35, 27 October 2016 (UTC)
  • Full review needed now that AfD has concluded. BlueMoonset (talk) 18:42, 3 November 2016 (UTC)

New & nominated within 7 days, long enough (least 1,500 characters), neutral (per talk), and cites sources with inline citations. Djflem (talk) 13:33, 6 November 2016 (UTC)

  • Hi, I came by to promote this, but I feel you could do much more with the hook. How about:
  • ALT3: ... that a black bear in New Jersey was seen walking upright? Yoninah (talk) 23:57, 7 November 2016 (UTC)
  • Thanks. New reviewer needed for ALT3. Yoninah (talk) 21:09, 8 November 2016 (UTC)
All black bears sometimes walk upright. Pedals walked upright all the timeDjflem (talk) 16:16, 9 November 2016 (UTC)
  • GTG, in my view. Review essentially as above. However, I have a strong preference for ALT1. @Yoninah and EvergreenFire: my apologies, but all bears frequently rise up on to their hind legs and walk. What is interesting here is this one only walked on his hindlegs. Vanamonde (talk) 07:30, 14 November 2016 (UTC)
