Payún Matrú

[edit]
  • ... that the Payún Matrú volcano was last active about 500 years ago and is also the source of the longest Quaternary lava flow on Earth?

5x expanded by Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk). Self-nominated at 13:39, 26 January 2019 (UTC).

  • The article is long enough and was expanded five fold in less than 7 days (compare [1] with [2]). QPQ is provided and the text is well organized and well referenced and no copy-vio issues was seen. The hook is interesting, used in the article and informative but, I think, is not accurate. I suggest the following hook:
ALT1:...that the Payún Matrú volcano, last active about 450 years ago, is the source of the longest Quaternary lava flow on Earth?
By the way, you may consider proposing an image for it? How's the infobox image? --Mhhossein talk 13:09, 7 February 2019 (UTC)
@Mhhossein: According to the article and sources, the last eruption took place 515 ± 50 years ago. That means that it was "about 500 years ago", not 450 since that's at the edge of the uncertainty interval. As for photos, unfortunately there is no free and good image of the Pampas Onduladas flow. Yeah, 450 was not a suitable choice, neither is 500. How about 'about 515'? --Mhhossein talk 18:13, 8 February 2019 (UTC)
That is too precise for my liking. Really, for the purposes of this about 500 would be enough. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 19:20, 8 February 2019 (UTC)
I'm OK with that if there's a 3rd opinion endorsing the figure 500. --Mhhossein talk 06:52, 12 February 2019 (UTC)
I think the 500 figure works as a compromise; we don't need to be precise with these kinds of timeframes. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 04:04, 13 February 2019 (UTC)
Given the latest comment favoring the figure "500", we may proceed with that. @Jo-Jo Eumerus: How about the following hook:
ALT2:...that the Payún Matrú volcano, last active about 500 years ago, is the source of the longest Quaternary lava flow on Earth?
Regards. --Mhhossein talk 12:00, 17 February 2019 (UTC)
@Mhhossein: Pretty sure you want to say "500" otherwise it's just a duplicate of ALT1. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 16:13, 17 February 2019 (UTC)
Oops! Corrected that. --Mhhossein talk 18:57, 17 February 2019 (UTC)
Sounds like an OK hook to me, anyhow, so as long as it's clear that this lava flow was not produced by the latest eruption. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 19:19, 17 February 2019 (UTC)
  • Good to go with ALT2. There's no concern regarding the lava flow mistakenly being considered as produced by the latest eruption. --Mhhossein talk 05:16, 20 February 2019 (UTC)
