Pacific Rim (film)
[edit]- ...
that director of the film Pacific Rim drew inspiration from Francisco Goya's painting, The Colossus (pictured), and George Bellows's boxing paintings?

- There's still some dispute over whether The Colossus is by Goya. Belle (talk) 01:21, 1 August 2014 (UTC)
- Yes it's by Goya, see the article. --Captain Assassin! «T ♦ C ♦ G» 17:37, 1 August 2014 (UTC)
- Maybe, maybe not. See the "Attribution" section of the article on The Colossus (painting) in which a 2008 press release from the Prado is quoted as saying that the painting was "with almost complete certainty" the work of the painter Asensio Juliá who was a friend and collaborator of Goya. - The article was recently promoted to GA (1 day ago), generally well-written and properly referenced, and within policy. Both facts in the hook are supported (one in an interview with the director, the both in a write-up about him/the film). Hook is correct length. Based on the comments above regarding attribution, perhaps someone more experienced than me at DYK reviews should weigh in. Presuming that The Colossus is indeed Goya’s work (unless that is proven incorrect, and a different attribution is made), I have no problem supporting this (as soon as a QPQ review is completed).
- SO, should we change the hook or mention the "attributed to Goya" in the hook? --Captain Assassin! «T ♦ C ♦ G» 03:26, 2 August 2014 (UTC)
Based in what I see here I think it would be best to leave out the Goya attribution altogether -- gets too complicated:
- ALT1... that director of the film Pacific Rim drew inspiration from the painting The Colossus (pictured), as well as George Bellows's boxing paintings?

- Yeah great, it'll work. --Captain Assassin! «T ♦ C ♦ G» 14:16, 2 August 2014 (UTC)
