  • The article history shows that this article was created in a single edit, with the edit summary "Import extensive article with references". Where was it imported from? Cambalachero (talk) 14:48, 4 November 2014 (UTC)
  • My workspace.
  • Can you add a link to it? You have several workspaces Cambalachero (talk) 13:28, 6 November 2014 (UTC)
  • While I wrote it in Work Area 6, I have since deleted it from there.Georgejdorner (talk) 16:13, 6 November 2014 (UTC)
  • The historical significance of the matter is best highlighted by ALT1, though I'd suggest "that US President Lyndon Johnson" EEng (talk) 06:27, 6 November 2014 (UTC)
  • Guess I was a bit provincial there, thinking that everyone would know I meant an American president. I have added "U.S." to both hooks.Georgejdorner (talk) 16:13, 6 November 2014 (UTC)
  • I prefer ALT1. It is noteworthy to remind that the Tonkin Gulf Incident started the Vietnam War. I don't think it's so important to remind people that Lyndon Johnson was a US president, I think that he's a historical figure whose name is introduction enough, but doing so will not make any harm either (and there's always the chance that someone around there ignores who was Johnson) Cambalachero (talk) 13:34, 10 November 2014 (UTC)
  • This review only discusses the hook; it does not mention any other DYK criteria such as newness, length, referencing, neutrality, close paraphrasing, or inline citation for the hook. Yoninah (talk) 23:55, 10 November 2014 (UTC)
  • Indeed. Could I have a real reviewer, please?Georgejdorner (talk) 16:01, 12 November 2014 (UTC)
    • Long enough (12,864 characters), new enough (created by Georgejdorner on November 3, 2014). QPQ done. Some problems: (1) There are bare URLs in the references. (2) I cannot find Johnson's explicit approval in the article or its sources. Hawkeye7 (talk) 08:12, 15 November 2014 (UTC)
      • The bare URLs are a link to the PDF book I list as the first Reference. Sort of a "belt and suspenders" deal, so the reader can see for their self. However, I could always delete the URLs entirely and use a book reference.
      • As for LBJ's approval, let me quote from page 140 of Warner: "This took the form of Operation Triangle, a large-scale offensive approved directly by Lyndon Johnson...." On the Tonkin Gulf incident, look to page 141: "On July 30, 1964...South Vietnamese commandos opened fire on a North Vietnamese installation.... A few days later North Vietnamese patrol boats attacked the U.S. destroyer, the Maddox...."Georgejdorner (talk) 16:16, 15 November 2014 (UTC)
        • I have clothed the bare URLs. Hook verified. Good to go. Hawkeye7 (talk) 19:55, 15 November 2014 (UTC)
