Operation Thao La
[edit]Created by Georgejdorner (talk). Self-nominated at 00:40, 9 February 2016 (UTC).
- This might make an April Fools Day DYK.Georgejdorner (talk) 05:42, 22 February 2016 (UTC)
- New enough when nominated. Long enough at 12973 characters. The article is neutral and cites sources with inline citations. Copyvios confidence 0.0%. The hook is short enough, interesting enough, neutral, and cited to an offline source. QPQ done. sst✈(conjugate) 07:44, 22 February 2016 (UTC)
- I don't think this hook is interesting, unless it's a euphemism that I've never heard of. I have no idea what Thao La and Binh Tram 37 are (I doubt most people will either). Obscure hooks are fine and great for April Fools, but they need at least some shred of context. Please propose another hook. Jolly Ω Janner 07:48, 25 February 2016 (UTC)
- I don't think you paid much attention when reading the article. At several places, I define a Binh Tram, delineate its importance, and give details of the search for it. I also dub the effort Operation Thao La. All in properly cited form.
- I am requesting a further review by an attentive editor. I have restored the properly cited hook which was struck for no valid reason.Georgejdorner (talk) 18:18, 25 February 2016 (UTC)
- I agree that it could probably benefit from a little clarification. Perhaps something like: ALT1 "...that the Laotian military's Operation Thao La failed to find the crucial NVA transshipment point Binh Tram 37?" AdventurousSquirrel (talk) 08:30, 7 March 2016 (UTC)
- Another highly informative article from Georgejdorner about an event that happened during the Laotian Civil War. It's well within policy and all DYK requirements, but the original hook suffered from problems as stated by Jolly Janner. However: I am happy to approve ALT1.—♦♦ AMBER(ЯʘCK) 19:36, 9 March 2016 (UTC)
- Is ALT0 also approved? Or is the demystified ALT1 the only acceptable hook?Georgejdorner (talk) 20:34, 9 March 2016 (UTC)
