  • ... that Onesimus Ustonson (invoice pictured) supplied fishing tackle to the naturalist Joseph Banks for the second voyage of James Cook? Source: "Onesimus Ustonson – inventor of the first multiplying reel in 1770 – whose tackle shop in Temple Bar, London, was an 18th century mecca for those taking up the sport. They included the pioneering botanist Sir Joseph Banks who bought tackle there before embarking with Cook for his voyage of discovery on Resolution" (and [1] the source, or cite it briefly without using citation templates)

Length and age are fine. The article has enough, and appropriate citations, enough inline. No plagiarism concern. The hook is interesting and supported by the citation. The image is not in a category covered by copyright. (This is my first complete DYK review.) Hildabast (talk) 02:45, 19 April 2017 (UTC)

  • Oops. Thank you, Cwmhiraeth and Yoninah. QPQ review finally done. Ustonson has been dead at least 200 years, so another six months delay in getting to the main page won't make much difference. Edwardx (talk) 10:53, 22 October 2017 (UTC)
I have just changed the pic to something that displays more clearly. Feel free to revert me if you disagree. Philafrenzy (talk) 13:36, 22 October 2017 (UTC)
  • This now meets all DYK requirements, the new image is in the public domain and I am replacing the tick. I was probably to blame for not returning this correctly to the nominations page back in April. Better late than never! Cwmhiraeth (talk) 17:29, 22 October 2017 (UTC)
  • I'm surprised that this nomination lasted for 6 months awaiting a QPQ. (I guess it was lost in cyberspace.) But it's a good article subject and the image is nice, so I'll IAR and promote it now. Yoninah (talk) 10:45, 25 October 2017 (UTC)
