Oakfield Manor

Oakfield Manor

  • ... that the stables of Oakfield Manor (pictured) have been used to house lions?

Created/expanded by Peter I. Vardy (talk). Self nom at 11:22, 28 July 2012 (UTC)

  • Date and length fine. Photo licensed. Reliable sources. No copy vios. Well-written. Hook cited. Recommend a slight variation of your hook:
ALT 1 ... that the stables of Oakfield Manor (pictured) in Upton by Chester, England, have been used to house lions? Anne (talk) 21:30, 28 July 2012 (UTC)
  • If you like; I was just trying to make it short and snappy. If they want to know where it is, they can always click on the link. I still personally prefer the original, and am not convinced that the addition offers much advantage as a hook. --Peter I. Vardy (talk) 21:35, 28 July 2012 (UTC)
  • I don't necessarily disagree with you. When I first starting doing these, I also thought less was more. But I was informed that the hook should indicate location (before clicking on the link). Anne (talk) 03:04, 29 July 2012 (UTC)
  • I don't know if that is "policy" or an individual's opinion. Let's wait for some adjudication on this, Cheers. --Peter I. Vardy (talk) 08:39, 29 July 2012 (UTC)
  • If an administrator would like to weigh in here, it would be appreciated. Other than the recommendation for a slight variation of the hook, the article is otherwise set to go. Anne (talk) 12:34, 5 August 2012 (UTC)
  • Help, please. Can we have an opinion on this matter? --Peter I. Vardy (talk) 09:36, 10 August 2012 (UTC)
  • My opinion is that there is certainly no reason to withhold approval of either hook, if both are accurate and sourced. The creator has expressed his preference, the reviewer has recommended adding a location, and the person who promotes it will choose one or the other, with admins possibly editing it in the queues after that before it hits the main page. I know, for example, that while most Olympic bio hooks that ran specified the nationality of the athlete, not all did. BlueMoonset (talk) 00:52, 13 August 2012 (UTC)
  • Great. Then, I say it's good to go! However, it still would be nice to know whether locations are necessary. If they're not, then hooks can be shorter and snappier, as Peter mentioned. Anne (talk) 14:12, 13 August 2012 (UTC)
