Noise in music

[edit]

Jimi Hendrix performs for Dutch television show Hoepla in 1967

  • Several citation needed tags, bare URLs Crisco 1492 (talk) 04:52, 17 April 2012 (UTC)
  • Fair enough (I guess the author is using MPA). Fact tags abound, however. Crisco 1492 (talk) 22:56, 17 April 2012 (UTC)
  • Yeah, I'll try to fix that. I'll alert the other editors.--¿3family6 contribs 00:27, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
  • Some citations put in. A few more references are needed, I'll try to find them.--¿3family6 contribs 16:47, 19 April 2012 (UTC)
Everything now basically has at least one citation per paragraph except for one spot. I may move this uncited content to the talk page, as it may be inaccurate.--¿3family6 contribs 13:10, 29 April 2012 (UTC)
  • Alright, I'll take a look tomorrow. Compiling a list of all songs ever recorded by Chrisye, as reliably sourced (which I'm not done yet...) is exhausting. Crisco 1492 (talk) 16:07, 29 April 2012 (UTC)
  • The section #Noise reduction is still unreferenced. Several other sections or subsections are in drastic need of references to reach DYK standards. Crisco 1492 (talk) 22:56, 29 April 2012 (UTC)
Noise reduction is now sourced except for one sentence fragment which I tagged. I moved two unsourced and contentious paragraphs in the electronic music section to the article talk page. Anything else?--¿3family6 contribs 14:27, 3 May 2012 (UTC)
  • Referencing is still a major issue. I added several {{cn}} tags Crisco 1492 (talk) 23:19, 3 May 2012 (UTC)
How does it look now? I'm also reworking the hook to something more hooky:--¿3family6 contribs 17:53, 6 May 2012 (UTC)

ALT1... that the use of noise in music by Jimi Hendrix (pictured) was compared to glassblowing?

  • Interesting hook. There are still several CN tags Crisco 1492 (talk) 22:48, 6 May 2012 (UTC)
  • Added some more citations. Is this enough for the article to move forward? If there are any specific claims that are of special concern, please let me know.--¿3family6 contribs 01:49, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
  • I count nine citation-related issue tags Crisco 1492 (talk) 07:13, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
  • I wasn't aware that this is a problem. I thought as long as each paragraph has a minimum of one citation (most here have more), the article can go through. Also, this article is very broad in scope, and most individual subjects within in it are sourced, and those remaining are mostly sourced. Don't get me wrong, I'm still looking for sources, I just thought that at this point the article was in good enough condition to move forward.--¿3family6 contribs 12:53, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
  • That's a rule of thumb. I don't feel comfortable passing an article with so many missing citations where an editor has requested referencing. Crisco 1492 (talk) 15:36, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
I understand, that's not a problem. The number of cite needed tags is now down to five, plus a failed verification tag.--¿3family6 contribs 02:50, 9 May 2012 (UTC)
  • This is a really interesting article. I've made a few tweaks, especially to the lead. I'm also trying to find a better amp--no self-respecting person should show off a Peavey, but unfortunately we don't have an image of the Marshall Bluesbreaker. Maybe a nice, small image of the Ibanez Tube Screamer will fit in. I was pleased to see the old Minimoog, but you could also consider adding an image like this, which is more "explicit". Yes, the CN tags need to be cleared up. Oh, I really don't like that second hook, sorry... Drmies (talk) 03:27, 15 May 2012 (UTC)
  • Do you have an alternative hook that you think would work? It's not like there's a lack of material. I really don't care, I just stumbled into this article somehow.--¿3family6 contribs 11:49, 15 May 2012 (UTC)
Sorry, but that referencing isn't getting any better. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 07:48, 23 May 2012 (UTC)
I can just move that material to the talk page as I did before. I would have done this before, but I wasn't sure whether the issue was still a problem or not. I know Drmies said it needed to be "cleared up," but I was unsure of what that entails.--¿3family6 contribs 14:01, 23 May 2012 (UTC)
Sorry about that, I was just unsure of what Drmies meant by issues, and I was also waiting for a new hook suggestion. Anyway, I now count only two citation needed sentences, and I can remove those if still a problem.--¿3family6 contribs 14:18, 23 May 2012 (UTC)
  • Cleaned-up (removed or given citations). Hook suggestions are a dime a dozen, feel free to suggest anything supported by the hospital. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 14:29, 23 May 2012 (UTC)
  • ALT2 ... that the use of noise by Ottoman military bands (pictured) inspired European composers such as Haydn, Beethoven, and Mozart?
  • ALT3 ... that the noise from an iPhone during a concert caused the conductor to halt the orchestra's performance?
  • ALT4 ... that Dror Feiler used the loud noise of a machine gun in a musical piece entitled Halat Hisar?
  • Of course, the Jimi Hendrix hook can be reworked as well, or another musician can be chosen.--¿3family6 contribs 18:07, 23 May 2012 (UTC)
  • I kind of liked that one too. Just throwing this out there, my sister liked ALT2 and ALT3. I do like those as well, along with ALT4. But whatever you think is the most catchy for the most people.--¿3family6 contribs 00:02, 24 May 2012 (UTC)
  • ALT2 is okay, but alt3 is a rather... duh... thing. There's still a "not in citation given" tag. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 14:50, 24 May 2012 (UTC)
  • I'm fine with whatever is decided. Is the "not in cite given" tag the Japanoise one? I'll see what I can do.--¿3family6 contribs 18:01, 24 May 2012 (UTC)
  • Corrected, hopefully. Maybe now this nom can finally proceed. Wow, over a month!--¿3family6 contribs 02:22, 25 May 2012 (UTC)
  • Argh, still two citation needed tags and a "full citation needed tag" in the footnotes. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 00:58, 26 May 2012 (UTC)
  • The tags are taken care of. The full citation is more tricky, I found the year, but who knows which translation it is, and I don't know how to find a different one.--¿3family6 contribs 01:18, 26 May 2012 (UTC)
  • I'd say note that it was a letter to Francesco Balilla Pratella. That should be enough. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 03:25, 26 May 2012 (UTC)
  • Resolved. Why I didn't run a google search before, who knows. Anyway, I have the translator info and publication date for the original and the translation, as well as other publication info. That should do it for that.--¿3family6 contribs 03:05, 27 May 2012 (UTC)
  • Looks good to go now, AGF on offline sources. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 23:26, 27 May 2012 (UTC)
