Nina Alovert
[edit]- ... that in 2015 Nina Alovert held a photo exhibition titled "The Gorgeous features of My Dear Friends" at the ARKA art gallery in Vladivostok?

- The article is new enough, long enough, and adequately sourced. But the DYK hook is really boring (artist holds exhibition — how is this at all surprising?) and I'm skeptical of the photo licensing (the commons page for it includes a conversation between uploader and subject that indicates the photographer's name but does not provide evidence that the photographer has agreed to the copyright release). Also, a technicality: if this hook is to be accepted, the corresponding sentence in the article (not just its paragraph) needs a source. —David Eppstein (talk) 22:45, 28 May 2016 (UTC)
- David Eppstein Thanks for the review. Fixed reference at the end of hook text in the article. I have removed the word "pictured" from the hook in view of your opinion. Here is a slightly modified version as Alt1 which may be little more interesting.Nvvchar. 12:28, 29 May 2016 (UTC)
ALT1 hook ... that in 2015 Nina Alovert, as an octogenarian, held a photo exhibition titled "The Gorgeous features of My Dear Friends" at the ARKA art gallery in Vladivostok?
- It's still basically "artist holds exhibit". Isn't there something more unusual to say about her? —David Eppstein (talk) 17:01, 29 May 2016 (UTC)
- David Eppstein OK. Here is ALT2 hook ... that Nina Alovert was the recipient of the Emmy award for her contributions to the program "Wolf Trapp presents the Kirov Swan Lake", in 1986?Nvvchar. 07:08, 30 May 2016 (UTC)
- Much more interesting, but is it accurate? IMDB says the Emmy was actually presented only to the show's producers, Michael B. Styer, Phillip Byrd, and John Potthast. (Also the repetition of the word "award" is a bit redundant.) —David Eppstein (talk) 07:41, 30 May 2016 (UTC)
- David Eppstein I have changed the text in the article to reflect the text in the reference correctly. Here is a modified suggestion to the ALT2 hook as ALT2a ... that Nina Alovert was honoured in 1986 for her contributions to the Emmy award program "Wolf Trapp presents the Kirov Swan Lake"?Nvvchar. 14:10, 30 May 2016 (UTC)
- To me this still sounds like we're crediting her for an Emmy that, in fact, was won by somebody else associated with the same show. In what way was she, personally, honoured? Who honoured her? —David Eppstein (talk) 20:16, 30 May 2016 (UTC)
- David Eppstein I am unable to find any references to clarify your above queries. May I request you for a suggestion for an acceptable hook. Thanks.Nvvchar. 01:29, 31 May 2016 (UTC)
- Hmm. I couldn't find much in the way of useful additional sourcing to expand the article with so I think we need to go with what's already in the article. How about (with a selection based on her book publications):
- ALT3 ... that ballet photographer Nina Alovert's subjects have included Mikhail Baryshnikov, Vladimir Malakhov, and Yulia Makhalina?
- I can't review my own hook, though, so we need someone else to come take a look at it. —David Eppstein (talk) 05:09, 31 May 2016 (UTC)
- ALT3 confirmed as being in the source here.--Doug Coldwell (talk) 10:18, 31 May 2016 (UTC)
