New York Journal of Books

[edit]
  • Reviewed: Swerlk
  • Comment: Expanded over 5x on 11 June 2017. Article is over 6,000 characters.

5x expanded by Sagecandor (talk). Self-nominated at 00:48, 15 June 2017 (UTC).

  • 5x expansion verified. New enough, long enough, well referenced, no close paraphrasing seen. This won't affect the DYK, but you should try to leave out all the citations in the lead for noncontroversial facts. No QPQ needed for first-time DYK nominator. (BTW the QPQ that you did submit was incomplete – please see there.) ALT0 is very hooky, but it does not align with the source, which credits the decrease in newspaper book review sections, not the decline in newspapers. If you could fix that fact in the article and hook, it would work. I don't find ALT1 hooky, so I struck it. Yoninah (talk) 22:42, 28 June 2017 (UTC)
  • ALT2: ... that the book review site New York Journal of Books was founded to address the decrease of newspaper book review sections?
  • @Yoninah:Please revisit. QPQ addressed at that page. Article edited. Hook edited. Both now conform tightly to cited source. Better to confirm now please? Sagecandor (talk) 14:44, 1 July 2017 (UTC)
  • Thank you for fixing up the information from the source. But now the hook doesn't seem so hooky anymore. Actually, it's far more interesting to me that they don't accept just any book for review, especially those of self-published authors. What do you think about composing a different hook along those lines? Yoninah (talk) 19:26, 1 July 2017 (UTC)
  • @Yoninah:Can you please just tweak the hook to have us use the first hook? If you read the Publishers Weekly source? As linked in the original hook? Please? Sagecandor (talk) 19:28, 1 July 2017 (UTC)
  • Why, are you trying to promote something?
  • The best I could come up with is:
  • ALT0a: ... that the decline of book review sections in newspapers was the impetus for the founding of the New York Journal of Books ? Yoninah (talk) 19:36, 1 July 2017 (UTC)
  • @Yoninah:I'm trying to get the DYK for this article reviewed and approved, no more, no less. Yes, I like that hook. Can we go with that one please? Sagecandor (talk) 20:43, 1 July 2017 (UTC)
  • Fine. Since I just tweaked your ALT2, I'll go ahead and approve it. ALT0a good to go. Yoninah (talk) 20:55, 1 July 2017 (UTC)
