[edit]- ... that National Masturbation Day, an annual event celebrated on May 7, was first observed in 1995?

- Some may think this is a bit of a touchy subject (pun intended), but the subject looks legit. That said, the sources only seem to reference its being celebrated through 2001. Nothing to indicate the tradition has continued in the past decade. As the hook suggests continuity through the current time, the sourcing needs to be expanded and massaged (pun intended) to show that. Cbl62 (talk) 00:53, 16 March 2012 (UTC)
- Out of the two news articles, one is from 1999, other is from 2001. Both mention its origin. --SupernovaExplosion Talk 00:58, 16 March 2012 (UTC)
- Done. Expanded the sourcing. --SupernovaExplosion Talk 01:19, 16 March 2012 (UTC)
- The new source actually suggests that National Masturbation Day may have fallen by the wayside. The new source indicates that in 2010 there was a National Masturbation Month, but does not support May 7 being National Masturbation Day. The problem is that the hook suggest NMD is a continuing tradition on May 7, and there's still nothing to show it has been celebrated since 2001. If recent sources can't be found, maybe you could tweak the hook to avoid any implication that it's an ongoing tradition. Cbl62 (talk) 01:37, 16 March 2012 (UTC)
- Take a look at this source from 2005. It suggests NMD was still around in 2005 but had been moved to a different day. The article's headline about the NMD celebration "climaxing" may suggest a possible eye-catching hook. Cbl62 (talk) 01:42, 16 March 2012 (UTC)
- I've added that source. --SupernovaExplosion Talk 01:49, 16 March 2012 (UTC)
- ALT hook 1:
- ... that National Masturbation Day, an annual event celebrated in May, was first observed in 1995? --SupernovaExplosion Talk 01:49, 16 March 2012 (UTC)
- ALT hook 2:
- ... that National Masturbation Day was first observed in 1995? --SupernovaExplosion Talk 01:49, 16 March 2012 (UTC)
- The two alt hooks, but not the original, look ok. Cbl62 (talk) 18:25, 19 March 2012 (UTC)
