Nachiarkoil Lamp

[edit]
  • ... that the Nachiarkoil lamp is hollow cast and consists of four dismantalable parts with the central pillar crowned at the apex called the "Prabhai" generally in the form of a hamsa ?

  • Length, date, sourcing, including hook ref, and QPQ check. No copyvio detected. --Al Ameer (talk) 20:02, 8 April 2016 (UTC)
  • Hook is confusing and uninteresting, and has a misspelled word (dismantalable). A better hook is needed. -Zanhe (talk) 17:34, 13 April 2016 (UTC)
  • Zanhe Thanks. How about this hook? ALT1 hook... that the Pathers proficient in using brass and bell metal to make Nachiarkoil lamps found the "Vandal sand" of the Cauvery river bed most suitable to mould their products?Nvvchar. 02:29, 14 April 2016 (UTC)
  • ALT1 is much better, but still way too wordy. I suggest to make it short and mysterious:
  • Zanhe Shortened ALT2 version is fine with me. Thanks.Nvvchar. 00:53, 15 April 2016 (UTC)
  • I cannot review my own hook, so pinging original reviewer Al Ameer son. -Zanhe (talk) 05:16, 15 April 2016 (UTC)
  • ALT2 is fine by me, cheers --Al Ameer (talk) 17:31, 15 April 2016 (UTC)
  • Note that I added quotes around "vandal sand" in keeping with the article. I don't know if "Pathers" needs any more explanation. Drmies (talk) 18:32, 18 April 2016 (UTC)
  • Hook was removed from prep by Fram because he says the image is not of an actual Nachiarkoli Lamp (see here). If this is accurate, then the image can't be used here, and shouldn't be used in the article; are the other article images similarly problematic? At any rate, I'm reopening the nomination, since once the article is fixed, the hook would seem to be okay for a non-image hook. One question: should "Lamp" really be capitalized? BlueMoonset (talk) 15:09, 22 April 2016 (UTC)
  • BlueMoonset I have changed the title to Nachiarkoil lamp in the hooks and the article. The picture included in the hook has an url which states "Nachiarkoil lamp". Pl see for an appropriate view.Nvvchar. 02:05, 25 April 2016 (UTC)
  • The picture included in the hook has an url which states "Nachiarkoil lamp". Yes, when you look at the image coming from here (and you have MediaViewer enabled), you get the caption "Nachiarkoil Lamp", as MediaViewer repeats the caption you added here. The real, original URL of the image is either "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:KuthuVilakku.JPG" or "https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:KuthuVilakku.JPG" (depending on whether you look at it here or at Commons), and has no Nachiarkoil in it. The description also lacks all links to Nachiarkoil. There is no evidence that this lamp is a Nachiarkoil lamp, just like there is no evidence that the other Commons image you added to the article[1] is a Nachiarkoil lamp. I don't understand that you still try to pretend that this is labeled as a Nachiarkoil lamp by anyone but you. It only reinforces my view that you should be topic banned from DYK nominations with images at the least. Fram (talk) 10:38, 25 April 2016 (UTC)
  • Imgs have been deleted now both from the article and the hooks. Hope it is OK now.Nvvchar. 01:29, 30 April 2016 (UTC)
  • Yes, it is. ALT2 hook verified and cited inline. (I lowercased "vandal" per the source.) Rest of review per Al Ameer son. ALT2 good to go. Yoninah (talk) 18:54, 2 May 2016 (UTC)
