Moon in science fiction
- ... that fiction about journeys to the Moon has been written since at least the second century CE? Source: "Fictitious lunar voyages have a very elaborate history, the first recorded example, Antonius Diogenes' Of the Wonderful Things Beyond Thule, being known only through a brief secondary description in Photius' Bibliotheca (ca. 870). Two lunar journeys by the satirist Lucian survived, the more important being Alethea Historia (second century a.d.; trans. as True History), a parody of the fancies and exaggerations routinely encountered in travellers' tales."

- ALT2: ... that fiction about journeys to the Moon started out as a tool for satire? Source: "The lunar voyage has a long literary history, having developed from a standard framework for social Satire to become one of the archetypal projects of speculative fiction."
- Comment: This is my third DYK. I'm open to suggestions about altering the hooks or writing different ones altogether.

Overall: Article is a recent Good Article, is long enough and well sourced. No copyvio detected (minus false positives on Earwig). QPQ is not needed as this is only the nominator's 3rd DYK. All of the hooks are cited and interesting (Note: ALT2 cites the online edition of The Encyclopedia of Science Fiction. I have a slight preference for the first hook, but they're all good. This one's ready! BuySomeApples (talk) 01:31, 29 December 2021 (UTC)
