Mongol campaign against the Nizaris
- ... that the Nizari (the Assassin) garrison of Gerdkuh resisted the siege of the Mongol invaders for 13 more years after the surrender of their leaders? Source: "Girdkuh continued to resist its Mongol besiegers, as the last surviving Nizari outpost in Persia, for thirteen years after the fall ot Alamut." [1]
- ALT1:... that invading Mongols had built permanent houses around the Nizari fortress of Gerdkuh, which resisted for 17 years? Source: "The Mongols, who had erected permanent structures and dwelling places of their own around Girdkuh"[2] "The fortress was besieged for seventeen consecutive years"[3]
- ALT2:... that the besieged Nizari fortress of Gerdkuh surrendered after 17 years to the invading Mongols for the want of clothing? Source: "The fortress was besieged for seventeen consecutive years ... finally surrendered for the want of clothing"[4]
- Reviewed: HMS Terror (I03)
- Comment: The term "Nizari" is the more commonly used in modern scholarly works, but "Assassin" is commonly used in other sources.

- I'm also proposing ALT3, "... that the Mongol Empire attacked the Nizaris after a supposed assassination attempt on the Mongol leader, Möngke Khan?" 3family6 (Talk to me | See what I have done) 18:33, 6 May 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks, I've read in another source that it was a threat for not to invade, elsewhere I read about assassination attempts against Mongke, Hulegu and Kitbuqa. I will check Daftary's works and see what can be found there. --Z 14:23, 7 May 2020 (UTC)
- My Mongol history prof (Broadbridge) mentioned an assassination attempt on Möngke, but I don't know if she's said this in any of her published work.--3family6 (Talk to me | See what I have done) 19:11, 7 May 2020 (UTC)
- I have expanded the article and added a section discussing the Ismiali-Mongol relations before this campaign. --Z 15:44, 22 May 2020 (UTC)
- I personally like ALT2 the best, although I can't give this a proper review since I've helped the article.--3family6 (Talk to me | See what I have done) 18:14, 22 May 2020 (UTC)
- Article new and long enough, well cited and interesting. Generally offline sources taken in good faith. Citation should be added to the end of the sentence
The Mongols had built permanent structures and houses around this fortress, the ruins of which, together with two types of stones used for Nizari and Mongol mangonels, still remains today.
to support the hook (appears to be [23] at the moment). Conversely, I find ALT2 the least interesting, with ALT3 also falling flat. Between ALT0 and ALT1, I don't have a preference. Kingsif (talk) 11:47, 23 June 2020 (UTC)
- I added the reference to the end of the sentence in the article. I think ALT1 looks more hookish, although other hooks are of much more scholarly significance (this was one of the longest, if not the longest, recorded sieges of the medieval history, and it is also of much historical significance as it further confirms that Alamut was able to resist for long time, which could have changed their history). --Z 13:02, 23 June 2020 (UTC)
