Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board
[edit]... that the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board has been rated the #1 park system in the United States for five years in a row by the The Trust for Public Land?[1]- ALT1:
...that Minnehaha Falls, overseen by the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board, sees more than 850,000 visitors every year?[2] - ALT2:... that the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board
overseasoversees a park system that has been called the best-designed, best-financed, and best-maintained in America (video of falls shown)? Source: Garvin, Alexander (June 19, 2002). The American City : What Works, What Doesn't (2 ed.). McGraw-Hill Professional. p. 67. ISBN 978-0-07-137367-8.

- Interesting, on good sources, offline sources accepted AGF, no copyvio obvious. I miss an image of the falls! - Suggestion for the article (not necessary but please consider): The lead should be a summary of facts in the body, and then it doesn't need sources. At present, some facts are in the lead, and there's no summary of the body. I like ALT2 best. In ALT1, shouldn't we say that visitors see the falls? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:43, 6 January 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks for the review, Gerda Arendt. Mnnlaxer, do you want to take a look at Gerda's sugggestions? = paul2520 (talk) 23:45, 6 January 2018 (UTC)
- I don't understand either comment about the falls. I don't think the article is developed enough to have strictly a summary in the lead, but I'll work on it. - Mnnlaxer | talk | stalk 03:50, 7 January 2018 (UTC)
- Mnnlaxer, let me know if you need any help.
- Gerda Arendt, how does ALT1 look now? Should I move ALT2 to be the main hook suggestion? = paul2520 (talk) 04:16, 7 January 2018 (UTC)
- No, please don't change anything which has been commented, - it makes a discussion hard to follow later. Therefore, I restored ALT1, and here's your new one:
- ALT3:
... that the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board overseas Minnehaha Falls, which sees more than 850,000 visitors every year? - That's better, and I love "overseas" ;) - I love "seas - sees" less, - how is this:
- ALT4:... that more than 850,000 visitors per year come to the Minnehaha Falls. overseen by the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board.
- Lead: You don't have to write much more, but I suggest to repeat the information from the lead to the body, and then perhaps leave less detail in the lead. Image: You have a stunning image of the falls, - why not show it? I can't guarantee that it will be taken, but you could try! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 08:18, 7 January 2018 (UTC)
- @Gerda Arendt: Yes, my bad; it should be oversees, not overseas. Mnnlaxer, will you look at the lead, and consider adding the falls image? It would be great to have an image with this DYK. = paul2520 (talk) 18:57, 7 January 2018 (UTC)
- The image (video) is in the article, so please add it. I think the lead is fine, and I'm interested in getting others to contribute, so I'll leave it alone. - Mnnlaxer | talk | stalk 03:14, 8 January 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks for your work, Mnnlaxer. Gerda Arendt, is the article good-to-go? It seems like we favor the following:
- updated ALT1
... that the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board oversees Minnehaha Falls, which sees more than 850,000 visitors every year? - Since we'd be linking to this video, not sure if we still say (pictured) or something like (video ...). Please advise. An alternate would be to include this image in the article, but I feel like the video would be cooler. = paul2520 (talk) 13:04, 8 January 2018 (UTC)
- I agree that the video would be cooler, and wouldn't be the first. Perhaps check in Recent changes (from the Main page) how other cases were handled. Sorry, I am to busy to look myself. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:01, 8 January 2018 (UTC)

Okay, let's do this for the final version. I searched Wikipedia:Recent additions to find previous examples that used videos.
ALT5: ... that the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board oversees Minnehaha Falls (video shown), which sees more than 850,000 visitors every year?
... using video link. Do I need to update the original template, or will the DYK organizers use this comment?
Gerda Arendt, can you give the tick of approval? Thank you for all your help! = paul2520 (talk) 14:38, 8 January 2018 (UTC)
- ALT6: ... that the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board oversees Minnehaha Falls (video shown), which more than 850,000 people visit every year?
- ALT2, 5 and 6
- David, can we make the arrow smaller somehw, for more image? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:49, 8 January 2018 (UTC)
- Gerda: Increasing the thumbnail's size accomplishes this in relative terms (see 178x100 version, right). —David Levy 13:50, 11 January 2018 (UTC)
Hey, where is this at? Is it going to be live soon? - Mnnlaxer | talk | stalk 21:45, 17 January 2018 (UTC)
- Nobody knows, the list is long, choices are by diversity, among other criteria, and only every 8th gets an image. Is there any rush? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:55, 17 January 2018 (UTC)
- No rush, I have no idea how it works and I'm curious. Will there be a Watched page alert when it's posted? I just don't want to miss it. - Mnnlaxer | talk | stalk 03:49, 18 January 2018 (UTC)
- You first keep watching this page, which eventually will be promoted to the Template:Did you know/Queue. You can watchlist that, and see what happens. First it goes to prep, then to queue, and when it's posted on the Main page, you get credit on you talk. Enjoy! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 08:50, 18 January 2018 (UTC)
