Mike Chase
[edit]- ... that Mike Chase attempted to run for Rookie of the Year in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series in 1995 but was released from his team after failing to qualify for the first race of the year?

- Electric Catfish, as you are a new reviewer to DYK, can you please elaborate what you checked: hook sourcing, NPOV, close paraphrasing, etc.? Reviews are supposed to include that explanation and an icon, and while some experienced reviewers regrettably cut corners, new ones certainly should not do so. There's a good example of what a review should look like near the top of the nominations page. Many thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 16:38, 30 August 2012 (UTC)
- Sure! The article has been created recently (August 28), is within policy, and its prose section is over 1500 characters. The article adheres to a neutral point of view, complies with WP: BLP policies, and does not contain close paraphrasing. The hook is both interesting and is followed by an inline citation in the article. Electric Catfish 20:43, 31 August 2012 (UTC)
- Thank you so much for the fuller review. I am puzzled by one hook fact: while the final link is to the 1995 Daytona 500, the wording says it's "the first race of the year", and that fact is not mentioned anywhere in the article. Either the article needs to add that fact (and support it by a source that states the 1995 Daytona 500 was the first Winston Cup Series event that year), or the link needs to say "1995 Daytona 500". I frankly think it being the first race makes for a better hook, but the article needs to specifically state and source that information. Also, for future reference, it helps if the icon is placed at the beginning of the review, so it's easy to see. BlueMoonset (talk) 22:38, 31 August 2012 (UTC)
- I need to remember sometimes that some things that are logical, uncontroversial facts to me aren't as common knowledge to most. I've added a line about the 500 being the first race of a year with a reference to the official season schedule. - The Bushranger One ping only 02:20, 1 September 2012 (UTC)
- Hook fact supporting "first race of the year" in article and sourced; restoring approval for nomination. Thanks to The Bushranger for a quick response, and Electric Catfish for the original review. BlueMoonset (talk) 02:26, 1 September 2012 (UTC)
