Mersin Interfaith Cemetery
[edit]... that from its inception in 1938, Mersin Interfaith Cemetery in Mersin, Turkey, was open to all religions and sects alike?
Created by Nedim Ardoğa (talk). Self nominated at 07:17, 24 December 2013 (UTC).
- Firstly, this nomination should be under its creation date of December 20, so I moved the template to that date. The article is new enough and long enough. There is one inline citation in each paragraph, but there seems to be a lot more information that is not cited, especially in the Geography and History sections. Please add a cite, even if it is to the same source, to the sentences containing statistics and detailed information. Per DYK rules, the references also need to be filled out (see WP:Citing sources). This appears to be a first-time nomination, so no QPQ needed. Yoninah (talk) 21:08, 25 December 2013 (UTC)
- Any progress here? I can see some refs added since the last review. Time for re-review, please ? --PFHLai (talk) 18:43, 12 January 2014 (UTC)
- I looked at the page again and formatted all the references, using Google Translate for the English translations. There is one dead link in the first paragraph under History that needs to be taken care of. There is also a discrepancy in the size of the cemetery: the infobox says 360 decares while the History section says 260 decares. If the nominator could check the translations and resolve the issues mentioned, we can proceed with the nomination. Yoninah (talk) 01:30, 13 January 2014 (UTC)
- I tweaked the hook and added the location of the cemetery. Yoninah (talk) 01:33, 13 January 2014 (UTC)
- All issues have been resolved. Article is new enough, long enough, well-referenced, no close paraphrasing seen. Hook ref verified and cited inline. No QPQ needed. Good to go. Yoninah (talk) 22:25, 13 January 2014 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, the English-language source cited to support the hook does not indicate that the cemetery was open to all at the very beginning. Or am I missing something? --Orlady (talk) 04:18, 14 January 2014 (UTC)
- You're absolutely right, Orlady. I was assuming good faith for the Turkish-language source, but now that I review it (on Google translate) and the English-language source, I see that the hook fact is in error. How about this alt:
- ALT1: ... that unlike other cemeteries in Turkey that accommodate one religion only, Mersin Interfaith Cemetery includes graves of Muslims, Christians, and Jews? Yoninah (talk) 09:28, 14 January 2014 (UTC)
