Marquesan Dog

Dog stone relief from Hiva Oa, Marquesas Islands

  • Reviewed: Medstead
  • Comment: Hooks are order by my preference. If these are not good. Please suggest a better worded, shorter hook, but I like to include all the essential information including the reference to the extinct dog, llamas, stone relief, and Heyerdahl's theory on Polynesian migration. Also please promote with the image of the stone relief when it goes on the main page; it is rather mysterious looking image.

Tools

  • I read through the sources and made slight wording change on one sentence I thought was too close to the source
  • AGF on the offline source
  • Dab solver says there are no dab links in the article.
  • External Links tool (in the upper right-hand DYK toolbox): Source 10, Wanderlust magazine comes up "file not found". All other links in this article are working fine.

You certainly do find some interesting subjects to write about. Please do something about the link for Wanderlust magazine. Everything else about this nomination is fine. Below is an ALT6, if you like; or strike through if you don't like it. — Maile (talk) 13:48, 17 March 2017 (UTC)

@Maile66: Fixed link, I think I will just stick with the hooks I suggested and see what others think. Thanks.--KAVEBEAR (talk) 17:17, 17 March 2017 (UTC)

Then this is good to go. — Maile (talk) 18:06, 17 March 2017 (UTC)

@Maile66: I made some significant changes. Can you recheck and give this another tick? Thanks.--KAVEBEAR (talk) 20:48, 18 March 2017 (UTC)
I'll get back to you later. Don't have time right now, and Earwig's tool is not working. You have increased this article by a little over 71%, so I'll need time to read through it. Later. — Maile (talk) 21:25, 18 March 2017 (UTC)
KAVEBEAR I see you were working on the article again last night. Now it's almost doubled the original. How about if I wait a day or two until you've finished for sure, or what you believe is for sure. Then we only have to do one last re-review. — Maile (talk) 15:11, 19 March 2017 (UTC)
@Maile66: I believe I am finish with any major changes to the article. It is good for a second read through.--KAVEBEAR (talk) 02:39, 20 March 2017 (UTC)
  • Supplemental re-review by Maile
  • Article currently has 7164 characters (0 words) "readable prose size"
  • Sourcing on the expansion are fine. Earwig Violation Unlikely does flag a handful of proper nouns and a couple of short common phrases not of concern. It should be noted the addition of Rapa Nui Journal is a PDF linked through Wordpress. But I did some research and found through WorldCat that Rapa Nui Journal was a legitimate journal that is on file at 3 German universities.
  • I renumbered your hooks, because you missed the number 3.
  • Hook is 171 characters
  • ALT1 is 187 characters
  • ALT2 is 202 characters
  • ALT3 is 185 characters
  • ALT4 is 193 characters

Everything still looks good on this for DYK. If you feel like putting in the work and wait time, it would certainly be a different type of nomination at FAC. Good luck with this. — Maile (talk) 12:43, 20 March 2017 (UTC)

Comment to promoter, please use one of the longer hooks with the image (given its ambiguity, it is really interesting) when it comes time to prep, I think the longer hooks actually are fine and don't go over the character limit since I was counting (pictured) before except ALT1 and ALT2 which are 202 characters if we count the em dash. Please let me know if there are any changes to the hook when it does go to prep. --KAVEBEAR (talk) 01:20, 18 March 2017 (UTC)
@KAVEBEAR: How about
