Mark Clayton (Politician)
[edit]- ... that Mark Clayton, the Democratic nominee for Tennessee's Senate seat, was disavowed by the state party for his conservative and libertarian views?

- Failure of WP:Notability (people)#Politicians, IMHO. Wikipedia:Did you know/You knew this#R1 states, "Articles nominated for deletion won't be used unless/until they survive the deletion process." This article is an obvious WP:AfD nomination, but normally I'd postpone nominating this article for deletion (per Wikipedia:There is no deadline#View two: Don't rush to delete articles) until after the election. Others may disagree. This Mark Clayton (Politician) isn't yet notable, and in three months this article title should redirect to United States Senate election in Tennessee, 2012. Thus, this article is not a good candidate for DYK. --→gab 24dot grab← 18:54, 8 August 2012 (UTC)
- How is he not notable? As a general rule, isn't anyone who wins a major-party U. S. Senate or House primary considered notable? Remember Alvin Greene, Kesha Rogers, etc. Clayton has certainly earned enough coverage from the news media to pass the notability threshold. LonelyBoy2012 (talk) 19:30, 8 August 2012 (UTC)
- Fails per WP:ONEEVENT. In 10 years no one will care anything about this guy. As I said earlier, others may disagree. --→gab 24dot grab← 20:45, 8 August 2012 (UTC)
- I started an AfD on this article. If the article survives, I recommend the following revised hook that does not promote this man's name and opinions (because I contend that his biography is not notable):
- ALT1 ... that the winner of the 2012 Tennessee Democratic primary for U.S. Senate has been disavowed by the state party? --Orlady (talk) 22:03, 12 August 2012 (UTC)
- As of August 20, 2012, this article has been proposed for merge into United States Senate election in Tennessee, 2012, Maile66 (talk) 17:32, 24 August 2012 (UTC)
- Article has been merged/redirected. --MelanieN (talk) 14:13, 26 August 2012 (UTC)
