Luke Messer
[edit]- ... that Luke Messer served as John McCain's 2008 presidential campaign co-chair in Indiana?

- Comment: Not the best hook, but I'll see if I can think of better ones. Individual is a candidate in the upcoming US elections, held on November 6, so this hook should be held until after that is over.

- Hook fact is footnoted, and hook source is online and verifiable. Hook short enough (88 characters). Article new enough (September 14) and just long enough (1610 characters). Refs in proper format. I can't get through the paywall, but I see no concerns with reliability of sources. No neutrality or BLP concerns. Random googling of various sentences indicated no concerns related to copyright violations, close paraphrasing or plagiarism in the article. Good to go. I see no problem using this hook on MainPage in September -- November 6th is too far ahead in time. --PFHLai (talk) 10:15, 21 September 2012 (UTC)
- Okay then. I anticipated some brouhaha about posting a candidate for office during election season, which is why I suggested it. Thanks for the review. – Muboshgu (talk) 14:28, 21 September 2012 (UTC)
- I understand your concern, Muboshgu, and it's probably better to be safe than sorry. I am not living in the States and may under-estimate how "hot" things are these days in the US. Anyway, I should point out that, after Nov.6th, the article will likely need to be updated and expanded, and therefore re-reviewed, before it goes onto MainPage. --PFHLai (talk) 21:26, 21 September 2012 (UTC)
- It shouldn't be a major problem. I'll add a line on whether he won or lost and by what percentage, and if indeed he wins (he's heavily favored) change the lead to say he's a representative-elect. – Muboshgu (talk) 21:24, 22 September 2012 (UTC)
- Well, I am not worrying about your edits, Muboshgu. Traffic to the wikipage will increase as he candidate's name keeps appearing in the news around election time. It's the updating and expanding by god-knows-who that concerns me. I think I should give the greentick a "best before" date of October 5th. If we are using the hook in November, the article (of any candidates in the elections) should be re-reviewed shortly before the appearance on MainPage. --PFHLai (talk) 09:57, 23 September 2012 (UTC)
