  • ... that Loggerhead Key (pictured), an island of the Dry Tortugas, was home to the Carnegie Marine Biological Laboratory, which performed some of the first research on Western hemisphere mangroves and coral reefs? (Sources: [1], [2])

  • The hook is 197 characters long. It's within the limits, but just for 3 characters: can you make it shorter? The article also has too many images for its size. Cambalachero (talk) 18:48, 7 September 2017 (UTC)
  • Review still needed. I like the hook as worded, and it's within limits. I also think the images are proper, functional and reasonable to provide a visual overview of the island, which enhances the article, rather than taking away from it. These images include an aerial view in the lead, a map, a landscape image showing its some of its flora, a beach and the ocean, and the lighthouse image. • This article is new enough and long enough. The image is in the public domain, the hook facts are cited inline, the article is neutral and I detected no copyright issues. QPQ has been done. I tweaked the hook for clarity. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 06:35, 11 September 2017 (UTC)
  • Hi, I came by to promote this, but I am also concerned by the length of the hook and the way the hook shifts to focus on the marine laboratory rather than the island. I would put it in a non-image slot for this reason. Alternately, what do you think about shortening the hook, like:
  • ALT1: ... that Loggerhead Key (pictured) was home to the Tortugas Laboratory, which performed some of the first research on Western hemisphere mangroves and coral reefs?
  • ALT2: ... that Loggerhead Key (pictured) was home to a marine biological laboratory which performed some of the first research on Western hemisphere mangroves and coral reefs? Yoninah (talk)
  • @Yoninah: I'm fine with the alts, and prefer alt1, which is more specific. I thought the image would look great on Main page, just look at it, and it's a new article about an island. Images also generate interest in articles. I strongly prefer using the image. North America1000 07:46, 10 October 2017 (UTC)
  • I added a comma to alt1 above. North America1000 07:53, 10 October 2017 (UTC)
  • Great. I also think the image is striking. ALT1 hook refs verified and cited inline. Rest of review per Cwmhiraeth. ALT1 good to go. Yoninah (talk) 11:06, 10 October 2017 (UTC)
