Koh Tao murders
- ...
that the Koh Tao murders of two British backpackers were the first murders on the island of Koh Tao, Thailand in eight years?Source: [1]- ALT1:... that the investigation and trial of the Koh Tao murders was widely criticised by human rights organisations, pathologists and legal experts? Source: [2][3]

- Article is new, long enough, without outstanding issues (apart from a few minor things which have been addressed). QPQ exempt. The first hook is rather uninformative. Without any further context, being the first murder in eight years doesn't tell the reader whether this is an above- or below-average level of violence for the locality, so I've struck it. (Actually, the article would also benefit from such information.) Alt1 is fine, and cited. Personally, I think something could be said about the fact that it contributed to British tabloids calling the place "Death Island".[4] That could be a hook if mentioned in the article. It's rather sensationalistic, but well, so is most coverage of event. --Paul_012 (talk) 07:20, 15 February 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks Paul! Yeah, seems worth mentioning in the reaction section I think. I’ll make an update today or tomorrow. ProcrastinatingReader (talk) 00:58, 18 February 2021 (UTC)
- Added to article, not sure on a good hook for it yet, though. Maybe something like ALT2: ... that the 2014 Koh Tao murders led to British tabloids labelling the Thai island as "Death Island"? ProcrastinatingReader (talk) 01:34, 18 February 2021 (UTC)
