Kelly Starrett, Juliet Starrett
[edit]( Back to T:TDYK )
( Article history links: )
- ... that Juliet Starrett, a world whitewater rafting champion, and her husband Kelly Starrett, a national whitewater champion, co-founded one of the world's first CrossFit gyms? Source 1: "She raced for the national women's extreme whitewater team for five years, even winning two world championships", Source 2: "Starrett competed around the globe, paddling in more than a hundred class-V rapids, and won two national championships on the U.S. team....Soon after, he and Juliet opened one of the nation’s first CrossFit boxes.")

- Both articles are new enough, long enough, adequately referenced, neutrally written, and no close paraphrasing seen. However, a few points about the article organization: I moved all the uncontroversial cites out of the lead in Kelly Starrett; please do the same in Juliet Starrett. Both articles read a little like press releases rather than encyclopedic biographies. Can you add any "Early life" information about their birthdates, birthplaces, parents, etc.? Do you know Juliet's maiden name? Both articles need infoboxes as well, and an image would be nice.
- The hook refs are verified and cited inline. I tightened the hook.
- It appears that you do not have any DYK credits, so your QPQ is not necessary, but it's appreciated. After you have 5 DYKs under your belt, when you nominate two articles, you'll need to submit two QPQs. Thanks, Yoninah (talk) 15:16, 11 August 2017 (UTC)
- @Yoninah: Thanks for the review. I have added infoboxes and birth dates. I am working on finding sources for early life biographical information (there is some information on their children, etc.). I have not been able to find any free pictures online. Other than the lack of early life information is there anything else that you think could be changed to make it read more like a biography? - @Malinaccier: I did more editing on both articles, removing the self-promotion and links from the lead. I also found more refs on Google to improve the biographical details. (You already had some of these details in sources you used for Juliet Starrett, but did not add them to the article.) I only found one source, published in 2013, in which Kelly Starrett said he was turning 40 that year, so I just left the birth year with a cite. I did not find anything about Juliet Starrett's birth year, so I added a "citation needed" tag. After adding that (or removing her birth year), this nomination will be ready to go. - @Yoninah: Thank you; I have been putting off some of the stuff that you just did. I added a citation for J. Starrett's birth year (Crossfit athlete bio). Malinaccier (talk) 23:10, 17 August 2017 (UTC)
