Kein schöner Land in dieser Zeit
- ... that the title of a song presented by its author as a Volkslied in 1840, "Kein schöner Land in dieser Zeit" (pictured), claiming "no country more beautiful", became the title of books and television series? Source: several

- Article new enough, size OK at 3365 characters. All body paragraphs are referenced. Reads neutrally, Correct person credited. QPQ done. Image is free and in article. But at the size required, is hard to see much beyond that it is music. However hook is 202 characters long, and so needs trimming by 2 characters. If picture is not included, then there would be no issue there though. The hook is included in the article, its referenced, and the reference supports the hook. Perhaps the first part of the hook could be trimmed as it is telling us too much. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 06:37, 25 November 2020 (UTC)
- Thank you for the review! The pictured clause is not counted, even if there, so I see no real problem with the length. I also just "lost" 2 characters by fixing a typo. The key DYK is that he presented this song - which he had freshly made - as if it was something old and traditional. Perhaps we should stick to that? But it really strikes me how often this line gets quoted as a title, and for VERY different things. Any help with sharpening welcome. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:55, 25 November 2020 (UTC)
- ALT1: ... that the 1840 song "Kein schöner Land in dieser Zeit", claiming "no country more beautiful" and presented by its author as a Volkslied, was quoted as the title of books and television series? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 08:02, 25 November 2020 (UTC)
- The fix on the first hook is OK and alt1 is good too. So now Good to go with fixed original, or alt1. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 10:41, 25 November 2020 (UTC)
- @Gerda Arendt: please provide an inline cite for the 1840 publication date and for the first sentence in the second paragraph under Adaptations, regarding its use in television series. Thanks, Yoninah (talk) 11:58, 29 November 2020 (UTC)
- Gerda, there is no inline cite for the 1840 date. (Footnote 1 is showing a cover page dated 1838.) We also need an inline cite for it being used as the title of books. Thanks, Yoninah (talk) 22:07, 7 December 2020 (UTC)
- I added a few book cites, and one for a play. Ref 3 says: "Unter dem Titel "Abendlied" erschien "Kein schöner Land in dieser Zeit" erstmals 1840 im zweiten Band der Sammlung "Deutsche Volkslieder mit ihren Singweisen"" - which says that it appeared first in 1840 in the SECOND volume, - while the title page is likely of the FIRST volume. - My interpretation. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:41, 7 December 2020 (UTC)
- @Gerda Arendt: thank you. But there is no cite for television series. Do you want to change that to
a play
? Yoninah (talk) 22:51, 7 December 2020 (UTC)- Well, the series have articles in German, there must be sources, - but right now I'm too tired. I think television is a bit more quirky in combination with 1840. I could look after sleep. Or go ahead with a play, - nothing I care too much about. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 23:00, 7 December 2020 (UTC)
- I'll wait for a cite for television series. I tried looking at some of your sources, but the German is really hard to figure out. Yoninah (talk) 23:04, 7 December 2020 (UTC)
- Yoninah, thank you for your patience. I added 2 references. Please check again. I'd like to see in a brief sentence, that while some adaptations "mean" the idea "No country more beautiful", (many) others are satire or irony, or question that it's true. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 17:28, 8 December 2020 (UTC)
