Jordon Garrick
- ... that footballer Jordon Garrick nearly gave up the game as a teenager to pursue a career in rugby league before being persuaded to change his mind by his mother and his coach? Source: WalesOnline Swansea City website

- While the hook is okay, it's not exactly uncommon for people who play a certain sport professionally to have considered playing a different sport at an earlier point in their life. Thus, I wonder if alternative hooks could be proposed here, perhaps something that highlights his career or life more. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 14:56, 25 August 2019 (UTC)
- @Narutolovehinata5: Although it not uncommon to play more than one sport as a child, the fact that he was actually going to choose the other before making it as a professional was what I was going for. There's not much else to go for a DYK, the fact that his mother (and a coach) was the one to persuade him could be added to increase hookiness? Kosack (talk) 15:22, 25 August 2019 (UTC)
- The first aspect is not rare in sports: for example, if I recall correctly, there was a case of a person going to America on a rugby scholarship and even wanted to play rugby at first, but then passed an American football tryout and later made a name for himself in that sport (his name escapes me at the moment, though). If you still want to go with that hook direction and not a different one, I suppose the mention of the mother might improve hook interest. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 15:26, 25 August 2019 (UTC)
- I've amended the hook to include the extra part. I don't think there's anything more hooky than this for the player, let me know what you think. Kosack (talk) 16:20, 25 August 2019 (UTC)
- For completeness reasons, it might be a good idea to mention the coach as well. Otherwise the article looks good to me and I don't see any outstanding issues. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 00:44, 27 August 2019 (UTC)

- Article meets requirements, hook is cited inline and verified, no close paraphrasing found, QPQ done. The hook is interesting but isn't exactly spectacular, but it appears to be the best option to use at this point. Good to go. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 02:00, 5 September 2019 (UTC)
