John Geoffrey Bruce
[edit]- ... that the first time Geoffrey Bruce climbed a mountain he and George Finch (pictured) reached a world record height of 27,300 feet on Mount Everest?
- ALT1:... that in 1922, the very first time Geoffrey Bruce climbed a mountain, he and George Finch (pictured) reached a world record height of 27,300 feet on Mount Everest?
- Reviewed: Bristol County Jail
- Comment: I've added a second hook with the date 1922 if that gives a useful context. It was only Bruce who had not climbed previously. Finch was an experienced mountaineer and Finch was very much the leader of the summit attempt.

- The length of the article, date of creation and QPQ are all fine. I also don't see anything unusual in the copyvio check. I prefer the original hook for reasons of conciseness, as it doesn't suggest that the record is current. As a side note, I found some other online sources that corroborate the fact that Bruce had not previously climbed a mountain, but the citation of the hook sentence is an offline reference, so it's AGF. The image appears to be PD in the United States, since it was published in 1923 with no explicit copyright notice.-RHM22 (talk) 06:05, 3 January 2015 (UTC)
