Jan van Beers (artist)
[edit]- ... that Jan van Beers (caricatured) was largely unknown until the scandal of being accused of painting over a photograph brought him worldwide fame?
ALT1... that Jan van Beers was largely unknown until in 1881, three critics mistook his miniature hyperrealist style for painting over a photograph, and the resulting attention brought him worldwide fame?

- Mostly good. Two bits that could use explicit citations (I've marked them) and then I think it's good to go. Phrasing of hook could possibly be improved, but is accurate and sourced. Once the [citation needed] tags are fixed, and, ideally, "scandal of being accused" be rewritten, it's good to go. Adam Cuerden (talk) 22:46, 13 March 2014 (UTC)
- This article seems to me to now qualify for DYK in that it is new enough and long enough and sufficiently referenced. I prefer the original hook and it is properly cited. The image is in the public domain and I have added the word (caricatured) to the hook. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 20:37, 21 March 2014 (UTC)
- There are two {{section expand|date=March 2014}} tags added by one of the authors. Are there plans to expand the article further? If the wikipage is going to be unstable, it should not go to MainPage yet. Please address the maintenance tags before DYK. Thanks. --PFHLai (talk) 20:11, 22 March 2014 (UTC)
