Jan Harold Brunvand
[edit]- ... that Jan Harold Brunvand (pictured) has been called folklore's Carl Sagan for his work on urban legends?
- ALT1:... that folklorist Jan Harold Brunvand (pictured) describes urban legends as the "kissing cousins of myths, fairy tales and rumors"?

- Length and history verified; references accepted in good faith. Disclosure: I had a short exchange of letters with Brunvand myself concerning one urban legend back in the early 1990s; I do not think this creates any conflict of interest as far as me reviewing this goes. Rewrote original hook to tighten, describe Brunvand's profession more clearly and linked to urban legend (if anything in these hooks should be linked, it's that); although I prefer ALT1 because quotes by someone are always more relevant than quotes about someone.
