Jacques Cavallier
[edit]... that Jacques Cavallier, who created Opium for Men and L'eau d'Issey, started working in Grasse, France, the "Capital of Perfume", at the age of 10?
- ALT1:
...that Jacques Cavallier is a 3rd generation perfumer for Louis Vuitton, raised in the town of Grasse, France, the "Capital of Perfumes" where his family lived since the 15th century? - ALT2:... that Jacques Cavallier was born in Grasse, France, "the capital of perfumes", and created fragrances for Armani (pictured), Dior, Givenchy, Issey, Lancôme, Oscar de la Renta, and Yves Saint Laurent?
- Comment: Note to reviewer: this article was originally tagged as (BLP sources) expanded from a Stub of 1,481 characters to 11,430 characters with 17 new references
- Reviewed: fewer than 5 DYK credits (currently 3 – Carlos Brewer, Douglass T. Greene, Hans-Joachim Lang)
- ALT1:
2x expanded and sourced (BLP) by N0TABENE (talk). Self-nominated at 16:09, 10 May 2016 (UTC).
- Since the article already had sources before expansion began, it is ineligible for the 2x BLP. However, it has successfully been expanded 5x, so it qualifies on that count. New enough, long enough, neutrally written, well referenced, no close paraphrasing seen. In the 2nd paragraph under Career, I changed "Calone 151" to "Calone 1951" because it appeared to be a typo; please change it back if I'm wrong. ALT2 looks like the hookiest of the bunch, but I would also like to suggest something like this:
- ALT3: ... that perfumer Jacques Cavallier used a synthetic molecule to impart a sea-breeze scent to his most successful perfumes, including Giorgio Armani Acqua di Gio (pictured) and Issey Miyake L'Eau d'Issey? Yoninah (talk) 16:31, 22 May 2016 (UTC)
- Yoninah You are correct on both counts, the 5x expansion and the Colone 1951. Thank you for the careful reading and editing! I do like your ALT3 hook. I had wanted to mention something about Grasse being the "Capital of Perfume", since there was a program yesterday on the reopening of Christian Dior's House and they mentioned Grasse, but that might make it too wordy. I added an image to the article, which could be added to the DYK. Thanks again. NotaBene 鹰百利 Talk 14:10, 23 May 2016 (UTC)
- ALT2 has already been approved and I approve ALT3. Other parts of the review as per Yoninah. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 06:19, 28 May 2016 (UTC)
