- If the image dates from 1864, so it should be uploaded to Commons as a public domain image, not posted here as a fair use image. It should also be cropped appropriately and perhaps featured as part of the DYK hook. Since it is from a website a direct url to the page featuring the image should be provided as well. Is this the page? If so, I don't see the 1864 date there, so where is it from?
- This page features a higher quality image dating to 1902, perhaps you might consider using this one instead.
- The Silcox source is clearly a journal article (or perhaps a book chapter) and a full citation for the article, including journal title, issue, volume, etc. should be provided.
- The hook is cited only to a tourism website, which looks like a reliable enough source, but surely one of these other more scholarly sources on White mention this important fact? I am concerned that not even White's historical marker mentions it.
- I've verified the length, newness, and originality of the article per DYK criteria.
- This is an excellent article on an important historical figure in Philadelphia and I'd like to see this get to the front page once these issues are addressed. Let me know if I can be of any help. Gamaliel (talk) 17:23, 15 May 2017 (UTC)
- Gamaliel, to clarify, when I upload the image you recommended, do I still go through commons?TheGracefulSlick (talk) 18:20, 15 May 2017 (UTC)
- TheGracefulSlick Yes, when dealing with public domain (pre-1923) photos it's best to go to Commons. They will eventually be transferred there anyway. Gamaliel (talk) 18:55, 15 May 2017 (UTC)
- Gamaliel I think I took care of all your recommendations. My cropping of the image may look odd because I use an iPad. Thank you for the help.TheGracefulSlick (talk) 19:16, 15 May 2017 (UTC)
- TheGracefulSlick The image looks great! I see you've cited the hook to Silcox p. 88-90 but I can't find anything there to support the fact that he was the first black principal in the city, just for that particular school. Can you quote the sentence that backs it up? Maybe I can't find it, sorry. Gamaliel (talk) 20:31, 15 May 2017 (UTC)
