Islam and cats
[edit]- ... that while medieval popes ordered Europeans to kill them, cats are so revered in Islam for their neatness and Muhammad's love for them that an Egyptian sultan set up a charitable trust for them?

- This is an interesting topic. Question though: wouldn't the title be at Cats in Islam, like Jesus in Islam or Marriage in Islam? New enough, interesting topic and hook, AGF on offline sources. That would explain how many cats roam around here. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 13:00, 18 August 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for the review! To be honest, I am not sure. My original instinct was to put it at Cats in Islam as that made most sense to me, but then I saw Islam and animals and wondered if my instinct was wrong. Did you forget the "" tick, Crisco? Surtsicna (talk) 13:14, 18 August 2013 (UTC)
- No, I didn't. I want to hammer out the title first. I think you could make the argument that cats are not part of Islamic dogma (as opposed to the prophet Isa and nikah) since they are in the hadiths and not the Quran, but I'm not an Islamic scholar. I don't see any other articles with the "and" formulation though. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 13:17, 18 August 2013 (UTC)
- Okay, fair enough. Have you taken a look at Category:Muslim views? There appear to be a number of articles with "and" rather than "in" (Islam and poverty, Islam and modernity, Islam and secularism, etc). Another possibility would be Islamic views on cats (as in Islamic views on oral sex and Islamic views on anal sex + a number of articles in Category:Jewish views). - I guess we can stick with Islam and x. Seems to be enough precedent, and I rather like my argument above. Otherwise good to go (new enough, long enough, interesting, images seem fine). Good job, fascinating topic. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 13:35, 18 August 2013 (UTC)
