Is This the Way to The World Cup
[edit]- ... that "Is This the Way to The World Cup" predicts that England will win the World Cup? Source: EFO

- QPQ done, interesting, new enuf, but my main gripe is that the article feels too skimpy - furthermore, if we were to take away the few quotes in it, then I'm afraid it would be a little short of the expected 1500 chars. Am I right to say that? Cheers, Kingoflettuce (talk) 16:28, 22 May 2018 (UTC)
- @Kingoflettuce: I'm not sure I follow the rationale for excluding the quotes as there is nothing in DYK rules about that. Nevertheless, I have added more content. The C of E God Save the Queen! (talk) 07:33, 23 May 2018 (UTC)
- Hypothetically, I'd imagine that an article with 100 chars of 'original content' and 1400 chars of quotation surely wouldn't pass muster. The quotes are by right from elsewhere so they should not contribute to the DYK word count. If it is not in the rules I apologise but it ought to be. I will take a look again later. - Some minor quibbles: don't think there should be citations in the lede per MOS:LEADCITE, and then there's still the issue of skimpiness - a section that is just two sentences long shouldn't really be there. The song in itself should be a reference (that link is quite shady anyway) so citation is not quite necessary, discount DYK rules. I'm not sure if these are just stylistic issues but to be fair there doesn't seem to be too much on the interwebs that can be used so a good effort nonetheless. Article is new enough (at time of nomination), long enough (1700ish chars), prose excl. quotes is free from copyvio, neutrally worded, interesting hook. AGF on aforementioned "quibbles" which shouldn't be a real issue for DYK (but if any stickler comes along, I said so!) Cheers, Kingoflettuce (talk) 15:33, 23 May 2018 (UTC)
- Probably best to fix the issues raised at WT:DYK here, rather than in Prep — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vanamonde93 (talk • contribs) 10:23, 14 June 2018 (UTC)
- Adding icon so this doesn't show up as passed. Also, the following ALT hook has been proposed by Vanamonde at WT:DYK, with an addition by The Rambling Man:
- ALT1: ... that Tony Christie asked whether this was the way to The World Cup and then declared it "crap"? —BlueMoonset (talk) 15:54, 14 June 2018 (UTC)
- Fine with that (though personally prefer the original), I will ask @Kingoflettuce: if he can add the tick again please. The C of E God Save the Queen! (talk) 20:08, 14 June 2018 (UTC)
- The ALT1 hook is acceptable so this is ready to go in Prep 5 for June 18. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 05:02, 16 June 2018 (UTC)
