Article length and filing date okay. Article neutrality and sourcing okay. No evident signs of copyvio from looking at some of the sources and Earwig doesn't flag anything. QPQ started.
- The hook seems a little dull. And if I understand correctly, this wasn't just Whitman's first single for RCA, it was his first single period. So why doesn't the hook say that?
- The article as a whole seems lacking in some essential information. When was the song written? Was it originally a cowboy song, and Whitman added the yodeling to it? Where and in what form may it have previously appeared – on somebody's record, in a movie, in a show? How did Whitman's wife hear about it?
- The length of the song should be in the infobox, as should be the recording date (even if it's just "1948 or 1949").
- The article says the single had "moderate success". What does that mean? Did it appear on any C&W-related charts? If not, the article should say so. The article also says it became Whitman's "theme song". What does that mean – did he walk out on stage to it or something like that? I presume later on it was supplanted by more popular works of his like "Indian Love Call"? The article then says it's one of Whitman's classics, but the source is a mention in a piece in No Depression magazine. First, you should cite to the full piece available here, not a snippet from Google Books. Second, if it's really one of his classics, there should be additional evidence of that. Do Whitman compilation albums often include it? Are there Whitman live albums, and do they include it?

- @Moscow Connection, Wasted Time R, and Theleekycauldron: I'm not sure if the original hook makes sense if the reader is not familiar with Whitman, so how about the sealternate suggestions?
- ALT1 ... that "I'm Casting My Lasso Towards the Sky" is a Western-flavored yodeling song?
- ALT1a ... that the 1948 Slim Whitman song "I'm Casting My Lasso Towards the Sky" has been described as a Western-flavored yodeling song?
- I kinda thought the yodeling part was eye-catching, at the very least. As for the article itself, to me it's worded strangely. In addition to the comments listed above by Wasted Time R, the lede implies that multiple people have recorded it given that Withman isn't mentioned until the third paragraph. The song is also introduced as being written by its writers rather than being sung by a singer, yet it seems only Withman sung it. Shouldn't it be introduced as a Withman song then rather than it being written by the writers? Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 14:31, 30 April 2023 (UTC)
- I'm okay with both ALT1 and ALT1a. As for the lede, yes, if no further information is added, it could be rewritten as one paragraph where both the writers and Whitman are mentioned in the first sentence. Wasted Time R (talk) 21:18, 30 April 2023 (UTC)
