- Comment: Oh god theres a new UI for DYK nominations, just when I started getting used to this thing. Welp, heres to hoping this works. I'm a bit short on energy at the moment so if someone can come up with a bit more of a charming hook that would be well appreciated!

- Comment very nice, and interesting. These facts aren't you everyday stuff.Leomk0403 (Don't shout here, Shout here!) 09:10, 6 December 2021 (UTC)
- ALT2:
... that Hebetica sylviae (pictured) was discovered by a two-year-old who overwatered her backyard, rescuing them from being wasp food?Source: [1] [2] Leomk0403 (Don't shout here, Shout here!) 01:42, 8 December 2021 (UTC)
- Comment: If I'm being totally honest, I feel like highlighting that Sylvie is Sullivan-Beckers' own daughter would be important here, and its quite adorable honestly, she's not just "a kid", I was kind of worried that ALT0 implied I made Sylvie sound like she was "an accident" by saying that she discovered it on accident, and then her discovery was named after her implicitly, which could be me over-reacting, I just wanted a better way of phrasing it. Appreciate your effort and thank you! However an alternative quote would be great! The circumstances regarding the discovery are absolutely amazing. Ornithoptera (talk) 01:32, 9 December 2021 (UTC)
- ALT3: ... that Hebetica sylviae (pictured) was discovered after a two-year-old overwatered her backyard? Source: [1] I'm striking the latter part of ALT2 since I don't think it's appropriate to talk about "rescuing" something that was dead and buried. I'm also changing "discovered by" to "discovered after" since the two-year-old didn't understand the importance of what she was seeing -- her mother did. The rest of the hook is great, though, short and intriguing, so I'm preserving it and recreating it as ALT3 . Mary Mark Ockerbloom (talk) 21:37, 11 December 2021 (UTC)

QPQ: Done. |
Overall: There may be an error in the template regarding a link to a completed QPQ. For now, I have to assume that one has not yet been done. Please link to a completed DYK review and let me know. All three hooks are sourced but my preference is for ALT3. Mary Mark Ockerbloom (talk) 21:37, 11 December 2021 (UTC)
- No error, Mary Mark Ockerbloom. Click the QPQ link and you'll find a completed review of (in my opinion) one of the greatest DYK hooks of all time. Since the QPQ was the only holdup, I'll take the liberty of adding a tick. { ezlev (user/tlk/ctrbs) 05:11, 12 December 2021 (UTC)
- Ah, I get it now! I've updated the review template. Mary Mark Ockerbloom (talk) 16:42, 12 December 2021 (UTC)
- Comment to @Ezlev and Mary Mark Ockerbloom: does this ALT3a work?
- ALT3a: ... that Hebetica sylviae (pictured) was discovered after a two-year-old named Sylvie overwatered her backyard?
- Adds more interest for the people who put it together at minimal cost to punchiness... I'll promote it if y'all are both on board. theleekycauldron (talk • contribs) (they/she) 07:21, 14 December 2021 (UTC)
