Harran al-Awamid
[edit]- ... that Harran al-Awamid or "Harran of the Columns" was named after the ruins of three basalt columns dating from the Roman era, built atop the roof of a mudbrick home in the Syrian town?

- Comment the hook is compelling but it can use a little rewording. On a second note the article says that the colums shoot out from the ceiling of the house therefore the hook must be changed accordingly. Overall nice little read, I'd rephrase the hook though, something like: ... that the Syrian town of Harran al-Awamid was named after the ruins of three Roman era basalt columns shooting out from the roof of a mudbrick house? --Eli+ 04:36, 4 April 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for the suggestions. I had a bit of a hard time trying to figure out how to write the hook. Also FYI I added a scanned picture of the columns to illustrate the text and I might expand the article a bit further. I'll use your alternative. To make it official:
- ALT1 "... that the Syrian town of Harran al-Awamid was named after the ruins of three Roman era basaltic columns protruding out from the roof of a mudbrick house?" --Al Ameer son (talk) 04:55, 4 April 2013 (UTC)
- New: Article was created on April 1st. Sufficient length: it is above required length. Within policy: Adequately cited, neutral and free of [1]. Format: Hook is below 200 characters. Content: hook is neutral, compelling and is supported with inline citation. QPQ nominator reviewed another entry and Image is free. good to go. -Eli+ 20:42, 4 April 2013 (UTC)
