Grand Hyatt Erawan, Amarin Plaza
( Back to T:TDYK )
( Article history links: )
- ... that following the controversial success of Amarin Plaza (pictured), Rangsan Torsuwan went on to design the Grand Hyatt Erawan hotel in the same vein, but with Thai-style columns replacing Ionic ones? Source: "Examples are the Amarin Plaza... in the style of Western historicist postmodern architecture, whereas the Hyatt Erawan Hotel has architectural elements mostly derived from Thai traditionalist architecture. These projects were under attack by several critics before the year 2000."[1]

- Comment: Grand Hyatt Erawan is new, while Amarin Plaza was 5x expanded. The QPQ is rather old because I'd been saving the double review for a double nom.

- Interesting:
- Other problems: - The Amarin Plaza page mentions that the hotel used Ionic columns but doesn't mention its design influence on the Grand Hyatt Erawan. The Grand Hyatt Erawan page mentions everything except the Amarin Plaza's use of Ionic columns (it just says "Greco-Roman"). But all the info in the hook is in both articles in one way or another.
