Genisys Credit Union
[edit]- ... that the largest credit union merger in Michigan history took place in 2008, resulting in the creation of Genisys Credit Union?

- Article is long enough, new enough, properly sourced with reliable sources, hook is referenced. --SupernovaExplosion Talk 09:38, 19 February 2012 (UTC)
- When was Genisys Credit Union created/founded? 1936 or 2008? The first sentence of the article and that of the second paragraph need to be harmonized. I suspect one of the predecessor was formed in 1936. --PFHLai (talk) 18:55, 19 February 2012 (UTC)
- The credit union was given the name Genisys Credit Union after T&C Federal Credit Union and USA Credit Union merged. The term "Genisys" is a combination of the two organization's original names. This reference has a detailed explanation behind the name in the fourth paragraph. T&C Federal Credit Union was founded in 1936 and USA Credit Union was created in 1954. From a technical standpoint, USA Credit Union was merged into T&C Credit Union, and T&C Credit Union renamed itself to Genisys Credit Union. (source) Does that address your concern? - Great! Thank you for your clarification. Can this be explained in the article, please? For a subject with such a long history, the article seems rather short, anyway. Thanks in advance. --PFHLai (talk) 23:18, 19 February 2012 (UTC)
- I made a minor addition to the article. As for the previous history of the credit union, I had planned on writing that at T&C Federal Credit Union, as that was a separate entity until 2008. Alpha_Quadrant (talk) 00:53, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks. Since you've put "founded in 1936" elsewhere in the article to specify the relevant business entity, I have removed it from the first sentence of the article. BTW, this short article has two paragraphs and both mention the 2008 merger. I thought about consolidating the info (Maybe a brief intro, followed by a section on its history, and then a section on the current state of the credit union.), but I worry about making the article too short to qualify for DYK. Please beef up the article if you can. Thanks. --PFHLai (talk) 04:23, 21 February 2012 (UTC)
- BTW, I am not trying to stop this article from getting onto DYK. Just making some passing comments and suggestions. Hope this helps. --PFHLai (talk) 04:27, 21 February 2012 (UTC)
- No, not at all. I appreciate the feedback. I see what you mean, some of the information in the lead would be better off if it was moved to the history section. I'll do some work, and try and shorten the lead up a bit. Thank you for the feedback. Best, Alpha_Quadrant (talk) 04:34, 21 February 2012 (UTC)

Actually, I am not really sure what to add or change. The lead provides a summary of topic, and the history section goes into greater detail. I did some more research on this credit union to see if there was any more information that could be added. While the credit union has gotten press coverage over the course of this past two years, none of the information is really usable. All of the coverage is just on their current rates or minor promotions they are currently running. On the other hand, both T&C Federal Credit Union and USA Credit Union appear to have a long and substantial history. Because of the amount of sourcing, it appears that they may both warrant separate articles, so I had planned on writing up articles on both of those organizations. Do you think some of the past information should be included in the Genisys Credit Union article? Alpha_Quadrant (talk) 21:09, 22 February 2012 (UTC)
- I took a stab at re-organizing the existing info. Please revert if you don't like it. The first paragraph of the current second paragraph can be expanded into a new paragraph with one or two sentences as highlights for each predecessor credit union. Which predecessor got the NCUA charter number in 1964that is still in use today? This can be mentioned here, too. Hope this helps. --PFHLai (talk) 12:25, 25 February 2012 (UTC)
