Gene Protection Initiative
[edit]- ... that on 7 June 1998, the Swiss electorate rejected the Gene Protection Initiative, which would have banned scientific research using genetically modified animals?

- New enough and long enough. Main source needs a subscription to access but other sources confirm the hook facts. I edited the first sentence which had a serious flaw in that it stated that it was a failed referendum rather than stating that the initiative failed to be approved in the referendum.
