Gaqo Çako
[edit]- ... that Gaqo Çako (1935-2018), lead tenor for more than three decades, at the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet of Albania, also participated 28 times at the Festivali i Këngës, a light music song festival?

- Interesting career, on good sources, Albanian sources accepted AGF, you rephrased the English source well. A few questions and suggestions. There are some Albanian people who are a red link or without a link, - can you please find out if they have an article in the Albanian Wikipedia, and make an {{ill}}? If the person in the lead section remains a red link, better don't mention him, - a comparison to someone whom we don't know doesn't help. Can you help with translations for the Albanian opera titles. Do operas have an article in Albanian? then the same as for people. Please repeat the English source after the list of operas which it covers. - Thank you for the article! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:06, 6 August 2018 (UTC)
- @Gerda Arendt:Thank you for your time in reviewing! I filled the redlink of Ramiz Kovaçi in the lead (Kovaçi was the lead baritone, and Çako was the lead tenor, during that time, so basically those two were the lead male singers at the Albanian Opera), by starting his own article. and put the {{ill}} for Pjeter Gaci (although I hope I'll start his article too before the DYK goes online, in which case I'll remove the template and put the link. Translated the opera titles, unfortunately neither have an article in sqwiki. Kept the English source for the list of operas.--1l2l3k (talk) 16:02, 6 August 2018 (UTC)
- Closing this template for you ;) - Thank you for filling the link(s), and the other improvements. The whole topic of Albanian opera is too little known, - how about mentioning in a hook that he sang Italian and Albanian opera? (Rather than some prize that is also not known.) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:09, 6 August 2018 (UTC)
- @Gerda Arendt: It is very vague in the sources as to which Italian stages Gaqo went to perform on, and with what success. As you may be aware, the Italian stages, especially La Scala, are perhaps the most unforgiving ones in the whole world, and it is very difficult to be successful there. So I'd rather stick with what we know best: it is actually remarkable that an opera singer participated in the Festivali i Këngës, a light music festival (28 times), and even won it for three times. Note that Festivali i Këngës is the Albanian version of the Sanremo, and thus very different from the opera. The versality of this singer in this regard is interesting. One can find the winners in the Festivali i Këngës in its own article, but those are so poorly sourced, and it's difficult to source them, unfortunately as RTSH's website is not very good. However I understand that you would want the source to say exactly that he won it three years, and, that is not exactly in the source, so I tweaked the hook to say that he had 28 participations, that is supported by the Vrapi, Julia source. On the other hand, I tweaked the hook to show that the Festivali i Kenges was at the time a light music festival, to make the contrast with the operistic field, and accordingly clarified that in the respective article. Let me know if you have additional concerns. --1l2l3k (talk) 16:38, 6 August 2018 (UTC)
- Sorry, I wasn't clear, I meant roles in operas by Italian composers. - No need for ping, as long as I keep responding ;) - Will be off for choir rehearsal soon, but can look tomorrow, no rush. - I also wrote about great people who died, many this year actually. Thank you for doing that! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:42, 6 August 2018 (UTC)
- Ops, sorry for the long explanations then. I entered an ALT1 which you might like better. Up to you to decide, which one sounds best! Have a good night then, and see you around.... and please feel free to ping me at any time. --1l2l3k (talk) 19:17, 6 August 2018 (UTC)
- No need to feel sorry, - I am sory for giving you xtra work ;) - Thank you for the ALT, I don't think we need any link, - how is this?
- ALT2: ... that Gaqo Çako performed at the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet of Albania for more than three decades leading roles in Italian and Albanian operas? - DYK opera is quite active, - readers should by now know what an opery is ;) - How about writing the article about Albanian opera, - compare Spanish opera? Doesn't have to be long. - Rehearsal was nice, Magnificat and Nunc dimittis in D by Wood, - article to come. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:28, 6 August 2018 (UTC)
- I'm ok with either hook, and I started a very short stub for Albanian opera, but I'm not prepared to expand that much. Not enough sources for me to be more thorough in that endeavor. May be in the future. --1l2l3k (talk) 20:56, 6 August 2018 (UTC)
- Thank you! I leave two hooks for the prep builder to decide. We normally don't have the years of birth and death, but perhaps in this case of a recent death, it might work. For the question on my talk, perhaps ask Drmies, - it's a page with many watchers. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:16, 6 August 2018 (UTC)
